Had the pleasure of joining Jerry for breakfast today (7 NOV 07) on a picnic table in the yard of Cove Presbyterian Church (http://avenue.org/cove/) where he had camped last night. Spoke of many shared memories/experiences but mostly of his remarkably upbeat outlook and uplifting mission. If you are among the quiet-types who know right from wrong, value the extraordinary freedom we enjoy, and would like to see the best of American values spread/sustained and be enjoyed by our grandchildren -- then may you be inspired to speak up. Be an active participant in life and community, not just a quiet observer. Speak up for what you know to be right and against what is not appropriate for sustaining a healthy society. As Jerry Nelson travels South from DC and then West again, may you have the good fortune of meeting. And may you be moved to speak up and to do the right things in your life and community.
