More about me

 

I have a full life, but I believe life is better shared with a loving friend/companion.

 

I am pretty easy-going and happy.  I have faced many obstacles in my life - the loss of loved ones, the loss of a long time marriage, serious pain, and so many more things.  Things we have all gone through, I know.  However, it did not make me bitter.  I don't know if it made me stronger.  I am sometimes emotionally exhausted. I know it has made me more tender, sometimes too much so, although I have never not been tender.

I enjoy many things, always willing to learn new things.  Maybe a bit of a risk-taker in that I am willing to try something new if I think it will enhance my life. I am a caregiver and a nurturer -  have raised five children of my own (mostly on my own) and have done a pretty good job of it, although I do have a daughter that has been a drug addict most of her life but she is clean now for over two years.  Partly because she has become a young grandmother and adores that beautiful baby boy.

Yes, I am a great-grandmother--such an awesome experience!  He is the delight of my life. Two years old now - and a handful, but still my love.

 

I also helped to raise many more children, whether it was for a week or many years and I am so proud of all of them  There were times we had over 20 children in the house and let me tell you—you better be well organized if you have that many children in the house.  LOL

 

 I am hoping there is one good man that is not afraid of relationships and the bits of baggage we all carry at our age.  I have a very multi-ethnic family, so the man who would come into my life would have to be very unprejudiced and non-judgmental.  I am a very loving, caring person, and take pride in myself, my family, and my home.  I have had a lot of pain for several years, but have had a recent hip replacement surgery, that had some complications, and am now looking forward to the next surgery soon.  Very excited about it.  My left hip--no more pain!!  :-) I would hope there is a nice gentleman out there that would not have a problem with it. Also, I can still cook, clean, and everything else except walk much; I still have a lot to offer the right person.

 

I miss very much loving and being loved - it is the best feeling in  the world.  I miss having someone to take care of and who takes care of me, to cherish and be cherished.  God gave us love as the most important of all things, and without it one is lost.  I love my family and friends very much, but would love to have a companion/friend/life mate.

 

 I have a cat that is a wonderful little blind thing, very independent!  Thinks she can see.  So pets are very welcome (of any kind) I love all animals, and if I stay on at this house would eventually love to get a horse after I have recuperated from my surgery.  I am not letting anything hold me down, and if Martha Stewart can ride horses after her hip surgery I sure can!  LOL  

 

I guess I am retiring in the next week or so.  I had hoped to have my surgery first, but ran out of time and disability checks, so hello retirement.  In the meantime I do a lot of crochet work (specializing in baby clothes and afghans, although I do everything else also) and I have recently started making jewelry, which I really enjoy.   These two activities provide me with a decent amount of money, but I haven’t been selling a lot.  Right now I am trying to build up my stock so am spending much of my spare time working on that.

 

I would love to meet the rest of my life and go wherever he may be but until then I have moved out of that hot little desert town to a great place in the high desert on 2.5 acres with a fireplace and a wonderful porch where I sit and enjoy the weather as I am crocheting, reading, whatever. Would love to stay here, it is so peaceful and beautiful, but am willing to relocate if it is a dealbreaker.

 

 I feel like I have written enough about myself for one time. LOL.  I have added pix of me and of my family - although I do not take very good pix, it will still give you some idea of me and my very multi-ethnic family.

Favorite Charities

March of Dimes mostly. Helping people in need is a good charity for me, not an organized charity, but something I can see with my own eyes and help when I can - so many have done so much for me over the years I want to pay it forward. Flower Glitter Graphics

Smooth jazz, classical, country, old school R&B, OBG, Easy listening. Almost everything but gangsta rap and hard or acid rock.

Favorite TV Shows

Mostly nature programs (including Meerkat Manor), some sitcoms, history, cold case, medical, forensics, good movies. Recently added In Plain Sight, The Closer, Saving Grace. I don't watch a lot of tv, and when I do I am keeping my hands busy, crocheting the items I sell. Animal Glitter

Way too many to list. GWTW, Titanic, A Walk in the Clouds (through the Clouds?), Somewhere in Time, the Green Mile, Freedom Writers, most suspense or psychological thrillers, nothing gory!!!

Favorite Books

Comments Way too many. I even have too many authors to list (Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Michael Connelly, Michael Crichton, Catherine Coulter are just a very few that currently come to mind). Again I like history, historic novels, suspense, mystery, psychological thrillers, how-to's, anything that can grab my attention. I think maybe "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran is in my top ten. Oh, yes, GWTW is in there also!

Favorite People

Rose Glitter Graphics My grandmother, My children, my grandchildren, my wonderful great grandson, Walt Disney, But of all of them, my grandmother is my true and only hero. Without her, I would have been so different. I also have a new hero, an angel sent down here to earth. I met her here on Eons, Lady Claire1, and she is one of the most caring, giving people it has ever been my pleasure to meet, and if she is on your friend's list, you all know what I mean.

The French Quarter, the Bay area, the ocean, the country - as long as it is green, green, green and has a lot of trees and plants. No desert please (high desert is fine, however. I currently live in the high desert and love it)--let me enjoy the different type of beauty it sometimes has from a car going through--very quickly! lol Butterfly Glitter
