Places I've been

Almost every major city in the US from 1972 until 1975. I spent over 1 1/2 years in Salt Lake City. Taught in Uganda from 1975 until 1978 (I was arrested and not eaten by Idi Amin). By 1989 I settled in Alexandria, Virginia (my wife wanted our two sons to make use of the school systems there). Since 2000 I've been to Ethiopia and Montana (on press trips). I still travel between Gettysburg and Richmond giving Civil War talks.

More about me

I'm originally from Baltimore and love giving historical tours of my home town. The best places to see are Fort McHenry, Federal Hill (overlooking the Inner Harbor), Little Italy (home to some of the best Italian Restaurants on the East Coast), Fells Point, Patterson Park, and Poe's Grave. I enjoy giving talks and writing on the Civil War (War Betweeen the States). I currently live in Alexandria VA with my wife and have one son in medical school in Richmond and my younger son is now working in a bank near Harrisburg PA.
