Although my situation isn't quite as difficult as yours (my grandchildren are 4000+ miles and 5 hours away), I empathize with you. I just got back from 6 weeks with them. Luckily my retired status and my flexible part-time job allows me to fly to see them at least 3 times a year. My stays began at 3 weeks at a time, but have since grown longer and longer. Although it's nice to think of going home, it's still hard to leave them since they grow and change so quickly. I suppose we just have to make every minute we have with them count.
