I was glad to find this unique site, to make new friends that I have so much in common with: age, amazing music, cool clothes, hot cars, youth and it's natural beauty, etc... oh, for the good old days, no matter what was bad about them! Yes, I'd change a few things if I could go back, but since I can't, I'm not going to agonize over any past mistakes - I learned from them instead.
I'm a southern lady who came of age in the early 70's. This sounds cliche, but I'm happily married, honest, and sincere. I'm straightforward and direct. Never have liked too much silliness, but I enjoy life in my own way. I believe in standing up for what I feel is right, and I weigh all sides of everything before making a decision.
Although I've always been a serious person, I'm thankful for my (dry) sense of humor..if I didn't have one, I'd already have lost my sanity! Almost everyone deserves respect, while some cause people not to respect them. I care about people for who they are on the inside, not by their outer cover. Looks are only skin deep, and they change with age. The wisdom and depth on one's life shows on our face as we age, and I find that very attractive. I love my time alone, but also spending time with family, and friends both old and new - you can't have too many good ones.
I have 9 grandchildren between my 2 children and 2 stepchildren. I now put an effort into making my life more relaxing than it was in the past. I've always been a natural worrier, so I try to avoid conflict. I know from experience that stress can kill a soul and ravage a body. I'm a Christian, standing firm in my faith. Too many people avoid salvation since they think their fun will end, but there are many ways to have fun...you just have to get your priorities straight and go with it.
I love to read and have a book handy at all times. I totally enjoy the outdoors where it's quiet, peaceful, and all I'm surrounded by are the sights and sounds of nature. Fall is my favorite season; spring is fresh and new in it's own special way; winter is too short here in the southeast; summer is too hot and humid for humans and beasts!
Music is important and can completely change, start or enhance a mood, depending on what you need it to do. Songs usually just pop into my head daily relating to everyday life. I especially love southern blues, it reaches deep into the soul. My husband has played guitar his whole life, so I get regular personal serenades, which gives me great enjoyment. We love our old faithful tunes while staying open minded to some new music, but disco, rap and heavy metal have never counted as music to me, it's rather more of an irritation.
I refuse to let my health problems totally consume my life. Time goes by too fast to let that happen. I prefer to dwell on the upside instead, and being hard headed helps me do that :)
I've always been into making things. It's therapeutic to create with your hands, so whatever craft came around, I've probably tried it. It started with macrame in the early 70's, then on to ceramics, all kinds of needlepoints, especially crossstich, crochet, knitting, latch-hook wall hangings, tole painting, etc., but that part of my creativity is over. Now it's more like been there, done that, but can't really do it any more. I miss doing those things and still have most of the cherished things I've made over the years.
I very much dislike commercialism and sensationalism, and being bombarded from every direction with what to buy, how to look, how to act - it's gotten way out of hand. I know who I am and what I want from life, thank you very much! I really feel for the younger generations regarding this matter. So much for the basics, here's hoping to get to know you!

The blues are the basics, about everyday life that comes from the soul. Southern Rock was born from the blues, then there's classic rock, and then, well, you get the idea...I both love and need music! My husband plays guitar - we love acoustic and electric, plus the slide sound is just amazing. Some of my favorites are The Allman Brothers; Warren Haynes; Stevie Ray Vaughan; Robert Cray; Paul Rodgers; Joe Cocker; Grand Funk; Leon Russell; Emmylou Harris; Bonnie Raitt; Janis Joplin; Natalie Merchant; Norah Jones; Little River Band; Three Dog Night; Little Feat; Creedence; Tom Petty; Eric Clapton; Hendrix; Dylan; Pink Floyd; Van Morrison; Tina Turner; Jamey Johnson; Ben Harper; Ray LaMontagne; Dave Matthews; Motown, all 60's and 70's; Sorry, OK, I'll just stop here..

I basically don't watch the major networks at all, and can find only a few things on other channels any more. More and more lately I just leave the t.v. off to escape the constant loudness and ridiculous, too-numerous advertisements. I'd rather read and / or listen to music, or spend time with people I care about.

Experience is the best teacher for those who won't listen to good advice///// Don't eat anything that falls on the floor - there is no time limit rule/// I like all the Maxine quotes - she's from 'Crabby Road', and is a funny old lady who speaks her mind no matter what, and sees life in her own special way !

Butterflies and hummingbirds are just beautiful to watch; dogs are people's best friends; cats kind of do their own thing most of the time. All animals are cool but I don't have any pets. If you can't be a good and responsible pet owner, don't do it at all! If cities would stop dumping barges full of trash into the oceans, we wouldn't have to save any of the animals in it at all....forget save the whales, save the turtles, etc.. Save the ocean itself as a whole!
