Hi NOMAD:

I just got back on an AMTRAK Sunset Limited trip from New Orleans To San Diego. Had a fantastic time.A little Chilly at night. Came in to Union station In LA. Had a cool time on Olivera Street. Caught the SurfLiner down the coast to San Diego(Home.) I love Train Travel. Gonna take the Coast Starlight into the SF bay area (Love the women there.)

Hi, I have done all of Amtraks routes and have always used coach (sitting up to sleep). Passengers who purchase sleepers are considered first class and meals are included in the price. At least that is the way it always has been. I have slept sitting up on trains in most of Europe, and I think that Amtrak and Canrail have the most comfortable overnight seats. You may enjoy a quote I made up to use in one of my travel books: "When I must sail or take a plane,
I send my spirit on by train."
