*SING* ~~ AS THOUGH NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU ... *DANCE* ~~ AS THOUGH NO ONE IS WATCHING YOU ... *LOVE* ~~ AS THOUGH YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN HURT!!! ;) I was borne in Oxnard, CA. and lived there on the coast of Ventura Co. most of my life, until 2003. I absolutely love my hubbie's hometown areas, the Uhrichsville & New Philadelphia, (eastern) Ohio ~~ it is just gorgeous Amish Country...such a peaceful place to be! We met here in California when he was in the Seabees, and were engaged his first trip over to Viet Nam, and were married before his second trip ... both times he was in Quang Tri. To all of you who were in the Viet Nam War ... we love you all!!! **Thank you so much for your service and love for our nation. And that goes to ALL WHO HAVE SERVED TO KEEP OUR NATION THE LAND OF THE FREE, THE HOME OF THE BRAVE!!! THANK YOU WITH ALL OF MY HEART!!!! I also love taking cruises. I have been down to Mexico, and my dream is to cruise to Alaska on a 2 week cruise...to see as much of it as I can! I would also love to go to Hawaii at least once. I love parts of So. Utah & Colorado, and have been all over the USA. The only portions of the USofA that I haven't seen too much of is the east coast; and as close as Oregon & Washington State are to me, I've never been to either of them. I have been to Washington D.C., but that is it for the east coast, and that is what I would love to travel in the fall season! Someday I hopefully will!!! : ) I would love to share a some of my favorite radio stations with you to check out and **listen to**: (1). More about me

Being a Californian from birth, and still living here is truly amazing to me!  I was born in Oxnard in 1951, and lived there until 2003.  I met my wonderful guy, Rich, in 1967, we married in 1969, and have been "marred for life" since then.  lol  We left for Bible College in 1970 and returned back to Oxnard in 1973 with our first little "bundle of joy" ~ our daughter, Amy .... who was borne in 1972.  She is a wonderful Mom of two fantastic grandkids, Lexi, who is 16, & Brand who is 14.  Amy is head of a department in Lowes, and loves working in the office with finances.  She also got another job with Kings Super to help her out financially.  Our Lexi is now going to be a Junior in high school, and also holds a job in Kings Super.  Really glad that she is once again enjoying school, and having great teachers to mentor her.  That is part of the battle!  She is really growing up!  Brand has begun to sort of like going into high school next year, but HE LOVES sports!  So now, his grades will truly be the deciding point for which we are thrilled.  Brand is extremely a smart young man, just treading his first years of being a "teen"!  lol  Been there ... done that!!!  ;P   LOVE THEM ALL MORE THAN WORDS COULD EVER EXPRESS!!!  ;)

In 1983 we found out that we were going to have our second "bundle of joy," and in 1984 "little John" was borne into our family!  He is now 26 and moved to Denver two years ago, and works for the county in Denver f/t, and also works his weekends at Chick-filet as Assistant Manager on weekends.  He plans to return to college and get a degree in Criminal Law.  He is also very active in his Church and Bible Study ... and loves going out to the range to shoot with his friends.  He was a little disappointed this year that he couldn't go with his friends out here fromVentura on a Missions Trip.  He loves going down and working with folks in other nations.  We are very excited for him in whatever he does and knows that he will do it well!!  LOVE HIM BUNCHES!!!  MISS THE HECK OUT OF ALL OF THEM!!!  THIS MOM & NANA IS READY TO MOVE TO COLORADO!!!

We started into construction in the early 1970's  and that has been our life ever since.  We build homes, do additions/remodeling, and have a kitchen cabinet store along with our construction company.  We were part owners of a kitchen store in Oxnard for many years, and then headed off on our own, then joined in with another construction company which did a lot of insurance work throughout the Ventura/Northside LA Counties.   Those 7-8 years that we were working with insurance was a great learning experience for us for  our business.  Our business is affiliated with the NKBA and we also were with NARI for many years

I have always loved coastal living, my wonderful friends, and raising our kids in such a beautiful area, but that beautiful area has now turned into a full fledged LA suburb, and is bumper to bumper all the time with people who seem to think more with a "push/shove"  mentality ... and Rich & I finally decided to put our dreams into a slower pace.  We moved up here and started our construction company in 2003, and opened our kitchen cabinetry store in 2005.  We plan to build our final two homes here ... and hopefully that will be starting next year ... we'll see .... remember the story of the shoemaker's kids always going barefoot?  Yup.....it's true!!!

I've loved Tehachapi's weather from day one.  We have a very dry mountainous high desert climate, which brings us all four beautiful seasons.  The only thing that I truly miss is being just 3 miles from the beaches, and getting to go there when I need time alone, to listen to the ocean waves hitting in the evening.  That I truly miss in my life.  But I'm surrounded by so much more beauty, that I will drive 2 hours and be at the beach, and it will mean even more to me!  AND I dearly love having four seasons!!!

I have always enjoyed working with special needs folks, and when we first moved here I went back to work with the school district for 2 years as an "on-call" sub in all 5 schools here.  I thoroughly enjoyed that, until my hubbie said, "Honey I need you!!!"  So I came to work for my hubbie as secretary in 2005, and will stay here for a few more years, until we build our home, then I hope to go back to what I love best and that is being a homemaker, and having time to take special care of our abode, and ALSO have time for my crafts, and cook/bake nice well thought-out meals, instead of getting home after six and throwing something together!!!  Not an enjoyable way enjoy your time in the kitchen!!!   You all of a sudden have a "drive-thru" mentality in your own abode!  And I love making meals that are healthy and taste absolutley delicious!!!  So I'm going to be a f/t homemaker again, one of these days!!!  SOON!!!!  (I hope my hubbie reads this!!!  lol)

I love to sing, and was active in our VMC choir for 25 years until we moved, and was also in our Ventura County Choir.  When we got settled, I became active in our Church here, but it doesn't have a Celebration Choir ... :*(  ....  BUT I sing with our Summit Singers Community Choir here, and thoroughly enjoyed our several yearly contatas.  Then we also have a Choral Choir which sings with our Community Orchestra that I have been active in, but as of right now, I've decided that I would rather go down and sing with my longtime Celebration Choir at Ventura Missionary Choir at Christmas each year, so I only sing with the Choral Choir around the spring/summer.  I have a deep love for music, and I thank my sweet Mom for making sure that I had concert piano for those 5 years!  There has been a special place in my heart for all types of music, and I feel very blessed!  I have to say that I deeply miss my wonderful piano!  I had it for over 30 years, and I didn't want to move it, because it was so old. :(  So I left it in our home of 27 years for the folks who bought our home.  They loved that!

I was very active in both of our childrens' schools for 26 years, since our kids were 12 years apart.  I would usually work with special needs classes there, or as a teacher's aide in one of the classes which my kids were NOT in.  I felt that the teachers needed to be "as tough as the law allowed" on my kids, and I didn't want to inhibit that process!!!  The teachers loved me for that, and I loved them!!!   I was on the PFO Boards for most of those years, and we were always a great group of parents who made money for the schools our kids attended.  In our sons final two years in h.s. we had a million dollar  pool put onto our h.s. campus.  We had worked for that for years, because we didn't want our kids to have to travel across town anymore for their swimming practice.  We were a thrilled group of parents/teachers/students!!!  Our parents at our schools were very, very active, and we were always at the activities that our children were involved with.  We had a group of 8 professionals from all over the state who came to check out the High School Campuses in our county.  They could not believe that they had to meet four times with the parents at our H.S..  And each of the four days they were having the group meetings in the Library, they couldn't believe how the parents were filling the capacity up!  One of the gentlemen that I sat beside told me that if he had to choose the school he would want to put his children in ~~ ours would be first on his list!  That was such an honor!!!  And that is how schools should be!  Parents need to be involved with making sure that their children are doing the work expected of them, and helping them to achieve it in all areas of their education.  If it was up to me, all report cards would have to have a grade that would involve parent/child doing a project together.  It would be one project per quarter.  That needs to happen!  Parents need to become very involved with the education process, and make it positive for the child.  If the child has special needs .... become pro-active .... don't leave it all in the educators lap!  Make education an excitement for your kids, and you will see greater achievment!  It doesn't mean that your child will be an "A" student .... it means that they will do their BEST!  And that is what is important!  Turn off the tv and bring books into their lives!  AND ENGLISH NEEDS TO BE THE LANGUAGE TAUGHT IN OUR SCHOOLS!!!  A SECOND LANGUAGE NEEDS TO BE A STRUCTURED CLASS ELECTIVE ... BUT NOT IN OUR PRECIOUS REGULARLY TAUGHT CLASSTIME!!!  ONLY ENGLISH!!!

(Enough preaching on education!!!  lol)  If I could do anything right now it would be A BIG THANK YOU WITH MUCH, MUCH LOVE & APPRECIATION to all of our wonderful teachers from Mesa Union & Rio Mesa"!!!  And A BIG HUGE HUGG FILLED WITH DEEP APPRECIATION to all of the wonderful parents and students that I worked hard & successfully with, and the great family our schools had together through our kids years together!!!  I really enjoyed the Band Family and Booster Families, and our wonderful Staffs at our schools who made those years of education for our children worth while!!!  Those were years filled with a lot of wonderful memories!!!

Right now I am active with 5 different groups: our Country Oaks Baptist Church Evening Ladies Bible Study Group, our Sunday Afternoon Theology Class with our wonderful Pastor Andy,I am the editor of our Republican Women's Newletter, the Chaplain of our Republican Women's group here, I am on one of our committees for our Tehachapi Tea Party, and also active in our Summit Singers. I also hope to get a Neighborhood Watch started over here in this area of town where we have our office ... especially to keep a close eye on the elderly & the children.  And I attend some of our city meetings ~ one of which will be helping the Red Cross with the folks who are homeless from the fires here in our area which have just wiped our 50 homes/structures. I'm hoping to get them to have a rodeo and possibly a country singer come up to the rodeo, with donations going to those in need.

We have just completed our 5th year with our cabinetry company and decided to move over by our Tehachapi Airport in the industrial area.  We love the capacity of our new building, and being able to have everything right here.  We are hoping to by the end of the year have our showroom set up.  But right now, we are so busy we don't have time to do it, so folks are having to see our website, and visit folks we've done work for.  Rich is still working 7 days a week, 12+ hours a day.  We are very thankful for this!

My dream right now is to have my hubbie fire me, so that I can do the things which I so love to do as a homemaker, with my crafts ... and have more time to be with my friends to just run around in the mid-week.  Rich hasn't heard my request as of yet, but I think one of these days his ears will be burning, because I will be right up there starting the torch!!!  lol  I also want to be free to "shop til I drop" ... especially at some great second-hand stores that I have always loved!

My other dream is to get my Babe away from his "workaholic lifestyle" and to do more traveling with "the lover of my life," with family, and with friends.  I love cruises and I also long to see Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Italy & Spain.  I thoroughly enjoy people of all ages, and I have a special place in my heart for the elderly!!!  I love getting to know folks from all walks of life, and sharing our lives with one another.  One of my dearest friends, I met for only a week in Missouri when I was 12 years old, and Vickie & I are still dear friends to this day.  Friendship is a very special thing!  Life is so exciting and every breath I breathe I feel truly blessed!!!

My greatest goal is to live my life as Christ would have to me live it, and to have a "servant's heart" toward those around me.  That is my hearts prayer for each and every wonderful day that my life is blessed with!!!  May your lives be blessed also, my friends!!!

Before I close I want to give you our company, "The Oaks Designer Kitchens & Baths," website below:

http://www.theoaksknb.com

We also have our construction company, we remodel, do additions, and build new homes.  BUT we don't have a website up for it yet.  It is Pacific Crest Remodeling, and it is what has pulled us through this slow past two years.  Thank the Lord for work!!!

May Your Day Be Filled With Much Joy,

NomiAnn :)

Far away in the night she glows,
A burst of light in darkness, unrelenting
So far away, she seems so close...

Flash by Carolyn Ross (Oceancat)
Precious gifts given to us to guide us to the truth - they teach us hope and forgiveness, love and honor, their presense gives us wings to fly at any age, those terrible twos makes us use our imaginations to answer their cute questions and why things happen in life. They were send from the heavens to let us know that life is precious and should be respected. And murdering one child breaks my heart a thousand times over each and everyday. They show us the fun we had as children and to that I'm still a kid-at-heart and will remain so even at deaths door - wide-eyed and curious.
