Places I've been
Moved to Arkansas at age 3. Lived in Booneville (where, after finding a nest egg in the chicken house, I learned from my father that roosters lay glass eggs), St. Paul, and Pettigrew (where my mother made me a lifelong believer in the Easter bunny because she said she saw his tail as he hiphopped around the corner of the house early one Easter morning). After starving out in Arkansas, we moved to Tulsa, where my father worked as a mechanic for the next 30 years. I entered kindergarten at Riverview Elementary already able to read, which apparently was quite an accomplishment, because the teacher spent some fair amount of time (it seemed to me) parading me around to other classrooms showing off my skill--perhaps to embarrass the older students into making more effort to learn to read too. My family moved to Sand Springs when I was about 8, and that is where I actually was raised, graduating from Charles Page High School in 1964. I had a good job at Woolworth's when I graduated and thought I would just spend the rest of my life there, but my mother informed me I was going to college so I would "find somebody to marry besides these yahoos in Sand Springs." So off to Northeastern State College in Tahlequah I went, and I did indeed get my MRS along with my BAEd. My husband was from Sallisaw, OK, and he really did want to spend the rest of his life there, so Sequoyah County became our permanent home, first in Muldrow, where he got his first teaching job, and then (after a two-year side trip to Tulsa where we both got teaching jobs for the phenomenal salary of $5000 per year) to Sallisaw, where we built a house on land his parents gave us about a quarter mile from the house he was born in. We both taught in Fort Smith, AR, for over 30 years before we retired two years ago. Then oh me --my husband died in February 2007, and here I am. I teach part time at UAFort Smith, and I moved into an apartment in Fort Smith about six months after I became a widow. I love being close to my job and close to everything else. Right now, friends and family keep me busy with things to do and places to go. My long-widowed sister-in-law tells me that won't last; loneliness awaits me. I tell her that when people stop calling me, I'll start calling them. So that is where I've been. Who knows where I'm going?
More about me

Widowed for two years come February after being married 40 years to a no need to elaborate just really decent guy.

Two children: My son was killed at age 33 in a big truck accident four years ago. My daughter is now age 35, married, no children.

Recently moved out of the house we built just before our daughter was born. She and her husband now live in it, and you know what? I am handling the transition very well, almost with relief. I now live in an apartment, having considerably simplified my life, and I love it.

Teach freshman comp part time at a local college, after retiring from the public schools two years ago. My last full-time teaching job was in an "alternative" school, and I would have to say it was the high point of my teaching career as far as job satisfaction goes. Every little bit of progress with kids who are deemed "unworthy" for mainstream education is fulfilling beyond belief.

I also have taught little kids in Sunday school for long enough that some of the little kids I taught now have children who very soon will be presenting them with grandchildren, which  are a pretty good substitute for grandchildren of my own.

Hi, I can't believe you bought an RV and drove it by yourself. Not sure I would be able to do something like that. Blessings.
