About me
Hello, Thanks for stopping by and visiting my profile. My name is Elaine, and I'm 64 years old. I was born December 13, 1943. I am a widow. My husband, LeRoy passed away on February 2, 2007 after battling heart disease for 15 years. He passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. I miss him very much.
We would have been married 25 years on July 31, 2007. I was a divorced parent with 3 teenagers when we married.
LeRoy was a widower with a grown son and daughter. I have a son 43, and a daughter 36, and a deceased son, who passed away from heart failure as he slept in 2001. He was 32. He was in the National Guard, and was a correctional officer at a prison in Oregon. He left behind 5 children, one not born at the time. I have a total of 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. YIKES !!! Now that makes me sound old.....but I refuse to act it......
I enjoy playing bunco, scrabble, going to the gym, and watching football. " Go Steelers". My son took me to a game once when they played the Raiders. I, of course was cheering for the Steelers, all decked out in my yellow and black, and waving my "terrible towel." It's a good thing my son was there to protect me. Some Raider fans weren't impressed with me. The Steelers won that game by the way. My husband used to tell people that he could hear me yelling over the sound of the lawnmower if the Steelers were playing. I guess I should believe him, I do remember being hoarse on occasion.
Music and dancing have alway been something I enjoy. I prefer classic rock, and oldies from the 50's and 60's. I taught ballroom dancing when I was 18. It was very hard for me not to "take the lead" later in life while dancing. I did finally adjust to it, after I was told to "please stop pushing me all over the floor".
I prefer mountain streams for water enjoyment instead of beaches. It's more peaceful and serene, I feel more in touch with nature there. Picnics are great in the mountains. It's also less crowded. I do not like crowds of people. I have been known to wait for a very long time just to have a quiet booth in restaurants.
I enjoy fishing, and camping, and playing poker. I must confess I don't have a good poker face. I give myself away everytime. I have a good sense of humor, and enjoy the same in others. I have a very quick wit, but only when I feel comfortable with people. Laughing is very important to me, and I love practical jokes. I feel I'm a good sport and can take a joke. Sometimes my own backfire on me, but I still laugh.
I try to stay very active and take care of my health. I have been very fortunate to have been able to maintain pretty good health. I also try to keep an open mind, and a positive attitude towards life. I believe that we are responsible for our own happiness. We're only here once, so we should live our life to it's fullest. I do not believe in "pity parties".....they can control you if you allow them to.
I'm here hoping to, make new friends, as I venture out in the world on my own. This will be my new beginning, and I hope this will be a positive experience for me.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting my profile. I would love you to sign my guestbook below. It's waaaaay down yonder!!!!!
