More about me

I was born and raised in Wisconsin and attended parochial schools.  From early on I always wanted to be an artist. I enjoyed sketching and in particular painting with oils.  To support myself after high school I obtained some medical training and worked as a medical assistant. The desire for artistic expression, however remained so I decided to study Fine Art at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee full time.  I later married, and had twin sons and unfortunately never completed my Fine Art degree.  I continued taking art classes though at UW-M and Layton School of Art. My husband died after 8 years of marriage so it was at that time that I turned my time and attention to raising my children and pursuing another creative interest, Interior Design.  I once again became a full time student this time at Milwaukee Area Technical College. I later worked for an interior design studio called Swan Interiors as an Interior Design Consultant. It was demanding work but I loved it.  About the same time I began doing custom painting on furniture and walls for private customers. This included Norwegian Rosemaling which I studied for 2 years with a private instructor. When my twins got older and left home I decided to pursue yet another lifelong interest - social service work.  I started reading books on psychology and counseling and eventually was trained to work as a crisis counselor.  It was sometime later that I was offered the position I have now as Manager of a transitional living facility for battered women.  This job combines my interests in decorating, art and social work.  At the present time I would like to continue oil painting. In recent years I have taken short classes in portrait painting at the Wustum Art Museum here in Racine.I am primarily on Eons to interact with and meet new people. I especially enjoy communicating with people from different cultures and backgrounds and would like to spend more time traveling in the future. I find one of the major tasks we all have as human beings is to constantly reinvent ourselves.
