Lived briefly in Albany, Ga.Seemed like everywhere I went in Albany I smelled peanuts! Visited Arizona(Huachuca) back in the 80's. It was so tranquil and peaceful I didn't want to leave. I still think about it to this day. Use to visit New Jersey when I was younger(Newark)to spend the summer. Spent quality time in NYC(15-20 yrs.) to hone my craft as an artist. Stopped over in Chicago briefly(it's OK)visited Atlanta in the 70's and couldn't believe how cool the city was and how gorgeous some of the women were.

More about me

I'm not big on talking about myself, not that I have that many skeletons in my closet! The short version goes like this. Born Feb.1954, 3 grown daughters even though they'll always be my little girls, 4 grands, moved to NYC late 70's early 80's to further my skills as an artist and to live the NY life, eclectic tastes in people, lived in the East Village(loved it)worked as school resource officer(decorated), moved back to NC in '95(hated it)learned to adapt to the South again(bloom where you're planted). Love B/W movies, old jazz, & browsing bookstores and art galleries.

I'm a painter who explores oils, pastel and drawings to express my dreams and ideas. I've been interested in portraiture for a number of years and am somewhat successful in it. But later on as our world began to change around me(some good, some bad)I began to rethink my idea about being the next "salon" artist. I discovered that it's easy to create pretty faces but it's something else to remove that mask and create the reality of humanity sometimes at it's worst. There's a part of myself that finds this intriguing. And as an artist it's my duty to express this. I wont completely give up on commissioned portraiture because the landscape of the face and figure will always fascinate me, but as an artist I get more satisfaction now just observing the everyday and creating narrative pieces. What I can't truly express in words I hope that my art speaks volumes

Maltese Falcon, The Day the Earth Stood Still, any Bruce Lee movie, Blade Runner, old B movies, Radar Men From the Moon, Dirty Harry, Star Trek, Bourne Identity, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Wizard of Oz(I still love the soldiers marching at the castle and singing) The old black movies from the 40's and 50's and film noir.

Favorite TV Shows

I'm an old sci-fi buff(B&W). My favorites were The Outer limits, Twilight Zone, Sci-Fi theatre, Dr. Who(Tom Baker)One Step Beyond. My other favorites thru the years have been Amos and Andy(made me laugh without vulgarity) Dallas, Flip Wilson show, Bill Cosby's variety show, the old Soul Train, Green Hornet(just because of Bruce) Star Trek, The Avengers, The Prisoner, Benny Hill, Simpsons, anime, DIY network, Food Network, American Chopper, Crocodile Hunter, The 3 Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, the Equalizer, X-Files, Superman, Lone Ranger, Mad Money, Modern Masters, Ovation TV. Activities

usually art related. I'm pretty ecletic. I like to bike ride when I have time, I like working on projects around the house that requires me to crank up the power tools! Sometimes it's just quiet contemplation early in the morning or during the day taking in the world around me. And as always I'm reading something.

I don't have any one favorite. I give if they're on the up and up.

Favorite Music

I listen to everything from old school jazz(Trane, Monk, Diz etc.)to classical, old school R&B, country, big band(Basie is still King), Ella, Sassy, Diana Krall, Diane Shurr, reggae(who else but Bob!) and world music on Link TV.

My favorite people are the creative introverted types.(artists, musicians, writers etc.)These folks keep me in my zone. Plus I like some of their quirkiness when aroused!

Favorite Places

New York, Arizona, the mountains of North Carolina. I look forward to traveling around the world someday to enhance my creativity and meet other creative types. I also hope to visit Taos, New Mexico for the arts

Favorite Animals

Cats are my all time favorites but I try to respect all of our animal friends(even snakes). Exceptions are roaches and ticks and mosquitoes(what IS their true purpose?).
