High School Name (City, State)
Logan High School. We graduated 212 in 1966. I have attended all of our five year class reunions. I love keeping up with what's happening with my classmates and that's were I do it. I don't feel that my high school encouraged me to pursue a career, but they must have prepared me for it. That's where I met my husband. I have a lot of great memories about high school. Also some not so great, like a fight with my best friend, which was stupid and I don't even remember what it was about.
College Name
Ohio University-Lancaster, and Ohio University Athens for my BS in Home Ec Ed. Grad 1973.
Remember the horrors of 1969. Ohio State University in 1968 which was too much for a small town girl. Back again in 1993-1995 for a Masters in Family and Consumer Science Education. Great teachers, friends, and days. Driving back and forth this time made for fun trips in the snow storms. Thesis was a fantastic experience, wish I could have covered more areas, but still use the information gained.
College Graduation Year
For undergrad, the year was a bitter sweet one. I had spent so much time working and going to school that I was glad to be finishing. But I had a baby that had to be kept by grandma, and I felt I missed out on a lot with her. I didn't make many friends that were long lasting. I had one great friend that I wish I could reconnect with - Liz. But I don't know where she is. I never lived on campus after my 1968 month at OSU. The football games were great with my husband on Saturdays though.
College Graduation Major/Concentration
Home Economics, not called Family and Consumer Sciences. I didn't want to go into that area when I first began college, because I felt it was my hobby and I wanted to keep it that way. But now I know that if you are going to love what you do in a career, it should connect with your hobby and I did that. It took me a while to convince my Dad that I wasn't wasting my education as a stay at home mom, because I used what I learned every single day being a mom. My children have benefited greatly.
Occupation(s)
I am now a Family and Consumer Science Teacher. In my 10 year. I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher. I teach 6 different subjects in my area, lots of preps. I am also a Tupperware consultant which I love because I believe in the product and like the socialization with people. I also am a real estate agent. I like making people's dreams come true. I have been a treasurer for a 4-H camping asso. I call myself a professional volunteer-4-H, my children's schools, church, civic org. etc.
