Read your profile and postings. Eclectic. I'm a Detroit native with roots in South Carolina as well. Married for 37 years with two sons off the payroll and one grandson.
I enjoyed postings regarding the mess on wall street. Me, I look at it from the the following perspective: 13.5 years as a CFO for grant in the late 70's an early 80's when inflation was running wild. I had to live within my budget an if that meant deferring raises,or hiring, or lay off, I did it. That year. A golden parachute for my director, hell no, he'd have been let go because the grant would have been eliminated.
Our survival depended on our living within our budget.
Later, after a ten year stint as MIS Dir., and a few years as a program auditor I retired into real estate five years ago. Timing is everything! Here in Michigan property is well below what it was five years ago and still dropping. Before all is said and done, you should be able to buy at 1998 prices.
You fence? I am jealous! As a kid I was always forcing my playmates to play pirates(etc)and of course I always got to be the captian, which might sound odd for a girl....but there it is.

Ever hear of a group called "Society for Creative Anachronism" ? Neat! When I lived in San Diego they used to hold their "jousting/picnics" at a neaby neighborhood park called Pioneer Park, which is another interesting place in and of itself.

I'm trying not to have a stroke although it is in my genes... I'm researching the civil war in Indian Territory.... we study women in the bible together; so you see we have a lot in common besides Barack Obama...
