Places I've been
My hometown is French Lick. At age 11, my family moved to another small town located in the middle of a lot of cornfields and hog operations. After I graduated from high school, I lived with my new husband near Fort Hood, Texas. After his tour of duty we returned to the cornfields until we moved to Florida in 1986. I remained in Florida with my two sons after I lost my husband in 1991. In 2003, I moved to Short Gap, WV and worked in Cumberland, MD until I returned to Florida in 2005 for my family. This was a true sacrifice as I love the mountains. I have traveled in nearly 30 of the 50 states and have been just over the border in Canada. Most of my trips have been in mountain states including the Green Mts in Vermont and the White Mts in New Hampshire. The Appalachians are my favorite. It is very pretty in London, KY and Ellijjay, GA where my youngest son and my brother live. Currently, I reside in central Florida with family.

More about me

I'm a lot like you.  I have learned a lot the hard way.  Made a bunch of mistakes and done a fair amount of harm to myself and my family.  The good news is that I have also done a lot of good. I am learning to forgive not only others, but myself. I love well and still laugh often.  God is merciful and just and I cannot ask for more than that. I am also learning that He has to be in control. He bought my life thru Christ and I accepted that when I accepted Christ as Lord and Savior.

I love old time music, quilts, dulcimers, the Appalachian Mts, campfires, soft rain, strong men with scruffy beards who clean up well, rock and roll, poets, Scrabble, my kids, my grandkids, my sweet Mother, my 'baccy chewin' father-in-law, my little brother and his family, the Lord, and real people.

I believe the Bible and trust it as God's living Word.  While I fear for my country and the direction it seems to be going in,  I am still proud to be an American and pray that America never stops trusting God and saying so.

I was married at 18 and widowed at 41. I had my oldest son when I was 20 and my youngest son when I was 29.  I lost a baby in between.  My oldest son Scott is currently divorced and has two children, Joel and Layla. My younger son, Zach has one son Garrett.  I have one little brother Tom and a very pretty little neice, Oliva.

I would love to fall in love again, but I am not desperate.  I'd like to marry a good friend who makes me laugh and will hold me when I cry.  I would rather make love than have sex and I need to be married when that happens.

Money talks, but it is not the loudest voice I listen to.  I just need to feel secure and be responsible.

I still want to write a book, but have a hard time writing letters.  I love stories and I would like to hear yours.

I love to travel, still hope to see Ireland.  I often go for rides and see what's down that road I haven't taken before.

I like to hear babies laugh, old women cuss, rain on a tin roof, and men sing.

Watching my children hurt is worse than the cancer I have survived.  I hate lying and have little patience with stupidity.  My Daddy was a hell raiser and used to say he was right 10 out of 9 times and he was.  He was also a teddy bear, he gave me pink sweetheart roses one year at Valentines and so much love all my life.  My Mother prays for me and puts up with all my stuff.  She still makes me breakfast some days.  Her faith and prayers have made all the difference in this family.

My sons call me Mom and other things and my grandkids call me Granny and that is who I am.  God still has plenty for me to do and I am often up to something.  Stay tuned and take care friends.

The old hymn says that, " I come to the garden alone." Often, I do come alone. Other times, I bring a More
