LOL, . . Teaching art is what I thought I wanted to do . . In 1953-53 I did a year of it in Hawthorne, Nevada, did not sign a contract for a second year. Instead, I went to work the summer following as a heat treat operater at ALCOA, roasting rivets over firy furnaces, and loved it. Three months later there was a massive lay-off, ending a short, but brief, career. . . . Next it was 9 months as a building illustrator at Northrop in El Segundo. . . . After that it was a career of elementary school teaching including art as well as everything else. I loved it!
