Thanks. This is my first trip in quite a few years, too. Here for a couple of days with my photographer nephew on a photo "jaunt". It's being pretty much preserved as it stands and the park service is doing what it can to keep it in a state of "arrested decay". Hope to get back soon. Will

I like the overall appearance but could have tried for more detail on the tips of the stamens. I can hardly wait to get a DSLR camera with a macro lens! :-)
The flower is called a Rose of Sharon or Lavatera. I love them. Very dusky color greens. I grow them simply by sticking pieces of the branch right into my soil. Love the flower pic.
