Your relationship sounds better then most of my married friends. I have a few friends that have the same wish as to make there union legal, I wish you nothing but happiness.
I read what you wrote about your relationship. Remember, love is in your heart and soul, not on a piece of paper. While I believe this society has a long way to go, and you are being denied a right everyone should be entitled to, it's obvious you are dedicated to your partner and no law can ever change that.
