I've never lived more than 20 miles from where I grew up, but I've seen half of the United States. This is an amzing country. Politically I started off being a liberal. Was never really sure why, just seemed right at the moment. Marriage, family and responsibilities assisted my swing to the right. Being strong-armed for 1/3 of my wages and told I was a bad man locked it. The majority don't really want freedom because it entails responsibility and risk. They either want a nanny state that tries to 'protect' everyone from injuring themselves or offending anyone (except the bad men, which seems to include Jesus), or they want an all powerful government that regulates everything. Some simply want to be left alone. But how can one be a good liberal and say they love freedom when freedom has been taken away from us because someone else decided what's best to do with our money. I can't choose who to share with because I have none left over. I can't choose to help local homeless because the government needs the money. How many more could be helped if the government didn't take it's cut? More government? I don't think so.
