Arlene Avery Burke, born in Evanston, Illinois, holds a Bachelor degree in elementary and special education from Northern Illinois University and a Masters degree in Learning Disabilities and Educational Administration. 

 

Ms. Burke was an educator in Illinois and Georgia for seventeen years working also as a consultant and supervisor. In 1987 she continued her career for another eighteen years as a Senior Client Representative and Educational Consultant in the IBM Midwestern Education Industry Unit from which she retired in 2005.  She as published one book, a baby boomer memoir called Nothin’ Like I Thought…A Baby Boomer’s Look in the Rear View Mirror and plans to publish a second, an adult fiction novel called Quid Pro Quo.  Ms. Burke also has short story, “Who Let the Dogs Out” published, August 2007, in Chicken Soup for the Child’s Soul A children's book, Grandma's Fairy Tale Museum, co-authored with Phyllis McAllister Hamilton will be published and available in August of 2009.
