More about me

I am a consulting civil engineer from Mumbai (Bombay),India. I got my degree in civil enginering in 1954 from Bombay University with First Class Honours, then went to London,U.K. for my post graduate degree in Structural Engineering which I obtained in 1955 and then worked in London till 1958 in a consulting engineer's office. During my employment in India in a major consulting engineering firm, I have handled all types of infrastuctue projects like power stations (thermal,hydro,nuclear), industrial and chemical projects, fertilizer projects, water supply and sewerage projects of large cities, port projects,etc.

During this employment I travelled to Japan,England,Norway,Yugoslavia,Indonesia,Singapore,

Thailand,Laos,Iraq.Greece,Jordan,Bhutan.

I have visited France,Denmark,Spain,Italy,England,USA(many times),China for personal visits/holidays.In USA I have stayed in Hinsdale,IL during more than a dozen visits to USA.

After retirement in 1994 I continue to work as a consulting engineer mainly on port related projects.

My interests are travelling,food,movies,literature,all good things of life.In my younger days I was a good ball room dancer of dances of those times.

Activities
Apart from what is given above I am interested in music, Indian classical as well as all forms of Western music. I attend Indian classical music concerts quite frequently.I walk every day for one hour for health reasons.I avoid personal car transport and travel by public bus transport most of the time as it is convenient as Mumbai is well connected to all places by this transport system.
Favorite Charities
My wife is the President of a charity running an orphanage.I have given my time for supervising repairs of their two buildings.I also support other two charities for children and seniors.

Indian classical, Western classical, jazz, light music, orchestral music.
Favorite TV Shows
When in USA I watch Food Channel, Travel channel, CNN, Frazier, Seinfeld reruns, PBS channel. In India I watch Discovery, National Geographic, BBC, DW(the German channel), Russia Today(RT) channel, local entertainment channels.

So many from Hollywood, old British movies from J.Arthur Rank studios, Bollywood (our films from Bombay).
