More about me
I was born on July 30, 1946, which seems like a very long time ago now. After 25 years of marriage, I found myself a widow with 8 children, and 5 of them were still minors at the time. One of my darkest moments was when Cancer stole my 12 year old daughter. My youngest is now turning 19 in May and preparing to serve a mission for our church. Life's highway seems to be filled with many twists and turns. I recently read a quote: "Life is a voyage in which we choose neither vessel nor weather, but much can be done in the management of the sails and the guidance of the helm. I don't know who said it, but I think that they had it figured out right.
Activities
Walking is my favorite exercise. I love hiking when I get the chance, especially in the beautiful Shenandoah National Park. I also like reading, writing poetry, having fun with the grandkids, and playing on the computer.

My taste in music is varied. Classic rock, like the Monkees, Elvis, the Beatles, anything 60's, Folk (like the Kingston Trio/Peter, Paul and Mary) exists in my CD cabinet along with light classical and Broadway and some country (big Roger Miller fan).
Favorite TV Shows
TV today almost isn't worth watching. I do like Monk, Psych and Boston Legal. Some of the greatest shows that I can catch on reruns are Mash, Three's Company, Night Court and some of the dramas of earlier time. I love watching the travel channel and vicariously living through the people who've filmed our National Parks and other interesting places to see.
Favorite Movies
Movies today are about the same as TV..not much worth seeing. "October Sky, Gone with the Wind", most Broadway Shows that were turned into movies, like, "South Pacific, Oklahoma, The Music Man, 1776" etc, The Harry Potter Movies (I find them entertaining), National Treasure. I prefer light-hearted movies to tear jerkers. I've had enough tears in my life.
Favorite Books
I've read so many books that it's hard to pick favorites. One series would have to be the Mitford series about an aging, balding Episcopal Priest and the people that he serves in the little town of Mitford, written by Jan Karon. Like movies, I prefer books that uplift rather than drag down.
