Before my 10th birthday, my grandfather had taken us on many trips to the Polish neighborhood in Chicago to visit relatives. Also to Crandon, Wisconsin where his sister, Sophia, lived. I will never forget when I asked her why she didn't get the mouse hole in her front door fixed. She said, "Its there so the mice can get in out of the cold in the winter." Just about a year before he moved the whole family to Florida, Grandpa took my sisters and me with him and Grandma on a trip to Florida but this was no ordinary trip to Florida. This is the kind of trip that you remember for a lifetime. I swear he took us to every historical place he could manage to put between Detroit and Florida. On the way down, we went down the east side of Florida and on the way back we went back up the west side, just ahead of a hurricane! The closest it got to us was when we spent the night in a motel, we were getting ready to leave in the morning and Grandpa thought my sister was whistling and it was actually the wind under the door.

Ok, let's see...I'm the 3rd generation of 5 generations of holiday birthdays. My daughter and all five of her children are holidays, too. Kind of a neat trick since none of it was planned. Honest! What else can I say? I guess that I'm pretty much an open book and that if you want to know something more about me, ask me. :)

Definitely spoiling grandchildren every available opportunity. What else are grand- parents for? I sew, knit, crochet, do counted-cross stitch, play guitar (I've done a couple very minor arrangements for myself), draw (trying to make children's portraits my specialty for which I use pics of my grandchildren for practice), would also like to teach myself to paint (uhm...that would be pictures not walls, LOL).

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. Albert Einstein Any fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction. Albert Einstein Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding. Albert Einstein

These days people are forgetting to carry on the stories of their families and what went on in past generations (etc., ), the kind of thing that was told for entertainment before tv or the radio was invented. People don't know the stories, or when they do, they aren't passing them on enough. My kid sister thought I was full of it when I told her stories she should have known from our grandparents, and corrected the mistakes she got from our mother. She kept telling me I was wrong. But how wrong could I be if the stories I gave her, names, and birth orders found her Censuses from 1910 and 1930? I told my sister things that she said, "Why has no one ever told me this??" The answer was, "You were there and heard it...Why didn't you listen?" The stories I can tell if....
