- More about me
-
I've really mostly enjoyed my life, though some of it has not been a day at the beach. I'm excited to have crossed the Fifty Yard Line, and I started this new era by fulfilling the dream of being a fulltime student once again. Life seems full of possibilities, and "I am running as fast as I can toward the edge of the World!"

I have favorites in just about all genres; I tend to love songs or pieces, rather than being devoted to everything the artist or composer does. My mp3 player is loaded with single songs from different artists from Hank Williams Sr. and HW Jr. to Joan Baez to Van Halen; and multiples ranging from the Beatles to Mahalia Jackson to ABBA to T Rex. I also love musicals -- Rodgers & Hammerstein and I go way back. Favie classical composer is Mozart (Requiem Mass, K. 34); also love a number of operatic arias; would love to learn more about jazz.

I read a lot: in my field (Victorian culture & death, the supernatural in literature, the Gothic); for pleasure (biography and autobiography, historical - for some reason love submarine and polar trek books); and at bedtime (a rotating selection of fiction, juveniles, etc. that are old friends, many going back to my childhood)

1) "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when [one] contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day. Never lose a holy curiosity." 2) "A man told his grandson: 'A terrible fight is going on inside me -- a fight between two wolves. One is evil; it represents hate, anger, arrogance, and intolerance. The other is good; it represents joy, peace, love, humility and compassion. This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every person.' The child asked, 'Which wolf will win?' The old man replied: 'The one you feed.'"
