- More about me
-
I grew up in the Houston, Texas area and was never without a horse. My first horse was a buckskin Welsh pony named Trigger and my second was a pretty paint mare called Bonnie. I loved these dear horses. They taught me so much about horses and life. My grandpa was my horseloving companion. He was a wonderful guy who grew up on a quarterhorse and mule ranch. Somewhere along the way he fell in love with Tennessee Walking Horses. I showed them for him through the years, but being a rowdy girl, I loved the jumpers and did some of that for a while. After my first child, I found a 1/2 arab grey mare named Farrah. It was love at first sight. I got to know her owner better after I bought her and Sandy (Farrah's former owner) is one of my best friends still. I credit her with introducing me to Arabian Horses and it has truly been a blessing. I got heavily into Arabian horses and started showing in the 80's and through the 90's. I've showed sporadically throughout the 2000's.
My husband retired in April, 2008 and my daughter got married in April as well. During that period, we built a new house and new barn at our ranch(75 + 130 acres) in Dodge, Texas (near Huntsville). With all this going on, well, whoops, I did it again! I bought a 6 y.o. Arab bay mare. I put her into show training. Yep, I'm giving it another shot. I just added one more horse recently too, a purebred Arab mare, 6 y.o. chestnut call name "Honey" and she is. My little herd will probably get up to 5 or 6 in the near future. I'm very excited about our "new adventure" with my husband's retirement. We plan to travel more too. It was hard to leave friends here in the Pearland-Friendswood area, but I will always be in touch and of course, they and their horse companions are always welcome at our ranch.
