Raised in Newport Beach, CaliforniaJoy Schwabach

-- Undergraduate degree in economics from Cal State University, Long Beach.

  -- Wrote the "American Dream" column for the Daily Pilot newspaper in Costa Mesa, California. This was a "how to" for small business.  Also wrote hundreds of articles on a variety of topics, from cooking to politics

-- Wrote op-eds for the Orange County Register and the Los Angeles Times. 

-- Helped write "Land of Opportunity," by Donald Lambro

-- Worked at a public relations agency in Newport Beach, CA.
