All over Texas but live in the oil fields of the Permian Basin; New Mexico (especially from Albuquerque north); Arizona (love Tucson and northern Arizona); Oklahoma (will probably retire in southeastern OK); Kansas; California (love northern Calif); Mexico (not just the border towns); New Orleans before Katrina; Colorado (love mountains especially the Rockies); Nevada (trite but true, had to go to Vegas)
More about me

I have lived in Odessa for 34 years and have finally gotten use to the lack of scenery and culture available.  The people are wonderful and they make up for a lot.  Even though this is the town  "Friday Night Lights" was written about, I'm not a football fanatic, but I do enjoy a good game.  I have taught 5th and 6th grade for the last 12 years.  The last few years I specialized in Math and Language Arts.  Before that, I was a stay home mom and loved it.  I love to read, go to the movies and hang out with my friends.  Also, I love to crochet and needlepoint.  When I go on vacations, I like to find the museums and art gallerys and go look.  I always go to Albuquerque at least twice a year.  That is the place where I truly feel at home.  My best friend lives there so I go back to get a pick-me-up to face Odessa and be with my friend. We have been through a lot together and she has always been there for me when I needed someone.  I think she can say the same for me.  I have three children - one daughter who has given me three super grandchildren and two sons who are out on their own.  Both of my sons are now living in the Dallas area.  My kids are very important to me as are my grandchildren.  I try to get to Dallas a couple of times a year (I don't drive Dallas - I get to Ft. Worth and call a son to come get me.)  All of us get together at least once a year and we shoot for twice a year.  I love art but can't paint anything but a wall!  One of my favorite schools of art is the Pre Raphalite period.  I learned about the artists in  a literature class in college and started reading and learning about this period and the artists.

I have been very interested in the Cherokee Nation as my paternal grandmother was a full-blood Cherokee.  During my research into her family I have found that my great-great and 3times great grandmothers were on the Trail of Tears and my great-grandfather's family came to Indian Territory with John Ross.  My great-grandfather also fought with Stand Waite's Cherokee Indian Regiment during the Civil War.  I am trying to learn the Cherokee language, but plan on retaking the first part as I got busy and didn't have time to get on line and study as I should.  Hopefully this summer I will have more time.
