I'm a cop's son. He died but I took on who I call Chicago's Head of Homicide Officer Goodman as my father figure. John's an elder, has young men in the dept. working for him, is the toughest man I know and taught how to be a decent citizen and better man myself out of deference to him. He's responsible for my transformation from conservative to liberal (more like hippie) to conservative again where I belong. The Man for All Seasons is more than just an Oscar winning movie to me, it's about a way of life in a temperate climate, Western philosophy. Being quiet and reflective have taken the place of a lot of boyhood loqaciosness like my patron, St. Thomas Aquinas. I love to bear light on the modern age though.
