More about me

I am happily married to a wonderful, beautiful, younger man.  I have five grown children and ten grandchildren (so far). I now live and work in Washington State, but have been the wife of and the daughter of U.S. Air Force men, so my past is filled with many places and unique memories. I am patriotic to extremes, and have tears in my eyes every time I see our Stars & Stripes flowing against the brilliant sky.  I have several hobbies - gardening, swimming, collecting a few things, voracious reading, writing poetry, crocheting, general craft-i-ness (ok, call it scavenging if you must). I like math and logic puzzles, puns and wordplay, astronomy and all scientific "stuff", I am a bit of a language-nazi, I am a darn good cook, and I hate cold weather. I would love to have an Irish Setter again, but my husband is allergic to most pet hair... (big sigh).

I am too heavy, and have been most of my life, but have lost a bit now, and hope to continue the trend. I have a few health issues, (a couple of them because of being over-weight) which sometimes cause my husband worry, but which my doctor and I are taking a bit more in stride. My parents are showing their age a little more now but are both still kickin'; a large, happy, and diverse extended family belongs to me, and it keeps growing in leaps and bounds.

Two of my nephews (so far) and three of my four sons have served in the various military branches, and have each been stationed in different places in the Middle East. One of my sons was nearly lost in the Anaconda mission in the beginning of the Afghanistan effort, and he was re-deployed there several times.  One of my nephews has been in constant jeopardy, several times coming very close to death, in the the worst figting in Iraq. All of them have since returned to us physically whole, and are now making successful lives "stateside".

My only daughter home-schools her five sons and is her lawyer- husband's paralegal. She is contemplating going to law school herself as soon as the littlest one is in kindergarten. Now THAT'S busy!

I am a devout Roman Catholic, a Mensa member, a conservative Constitutionalist, a Tea Party enthusiast, a diligent voter and polling-place worker, and as I tell my assertive (or chauvanistic)  male relatives, especially my sons and grandsons...

"I am a woman, a mother, AND a grandmother; therefore I am not only right, I am always right, and if both of us are right, I am always righter than you."
