The junior high was in the old high school building, with a big rotunda. Mrs. Metzger was my science teacher in 9th grade, after knowing me in grade school.

I loved school. There was a 5th grade teacher named Ruth Metzger who gave me books even when I was in 2nd grade. I got caught reading in class all the time. Teachers had to take away my library books because I was so bored waiting for the other kids to catch up and I would read with the book under my desk
