Travel to Europe May 15, 2002 - Butler, PA

At my age of 70, my wife, my dad age 90, and my nephew Chris took a two week tour of England, France, Belgium, Holland, Luxumberg and Germany. We saw many, many things too numerous to mention, but everyone should take this trip. My favorite city was Brugges, Begium, old quaint and interesting.. We took the Hovercraft across the English Channel over to France and coming back from Paris we took the train from Paris to London at 200 mph under the English Channel. Each country had it's own beauty. It was a great experience.

Retire August 31, 1995 - Butler, PA

I Love retirement and this is Why I Am A Professional Bum. My first job was working in an orange juice factory, but I got canned ... couldn't concentrate. Then I worked in the woods as a lumberjack, but I just couldn't hack it, so ...they gave me the ax. After that I tried to be a tailor, but I just wasn't suited for it. Mainly because ...it was a so-so job. Next I tried working in a muffler factory, but that ...was exhausting. I wanted to be a barber, but ...I just couldn't cut it. It was a hair raising experience. Then I tried to be a chef -- figured it would add a little spice to my life, but I just ...didn't have the thyme. I attempted to be a deli worker, but any way I sliced it, I...couldn't cut the mustard. My best job was being a musician, but eventually I found ...I wasn't noteworthy. I studied a long time to become a doctor, but I...didn't have any patients. Next was a job in a shoe factory; I tried but I ...just didn't fit in. I became a professional fisherman, but discovered that I ...couldn't live on my net income. Thought about becoming a witch, so I ...tried that for a spell. I managed to get a good job working for a pool-maintenance company, but the work was ...just too draining. I got a job at a zoo feeding giraffes, but I was fired because I ...wasn't up to it. So then I got a job in a fitness-center, but they said I ...wasn't fit for the job. Next, I found being an electrician interesting, but the work was shocking and I ...was discharged. After many years of trying to find steady work I finally got a job as a historian until I realized there was ...no future in it . My last job was working at Starbucks, but I had to quit because it ...was always the same old grind. Last of all, I worked for the telephone company ... but I had too many hangups and just couldn’t make the connectiion. This is why I am a PROFESSIONAL BUM.

Learn to play the guitar and Steel Guitar July 1, 1952 - Butler, PA

I bought me a used guitar in a pawn shop for $8.00 and a chord book for 25 cents and at a young age in 1948. Started to learn how to play the guitar. I later learned to play bass and electric bass. When I first heard the sound of the Pedal Steel guitar in 1952, I had to get my hands on one and learn to play it. I cannot read a note of music, but i can hear a song and play it. A talent is truly a gift from God. I played with about every country band around Western Pennsylvania and many radio stations in the area. I worked on the staff band of the World's original WWVA Jamboree in Wheeling WV which at he time was second to the Grand Old Opry in Nashville. In the late 1990's I played on the staff band of the Suncoast Jamboree in Florida along with my wife who MC'd the show and scheduled the entertainers. My wife, Danna and I still play some country music shows in Western PA. At present my wife and I are playing for God in a gospel group called "Country Tradition" website view link and we do about 30 performances a year in various churches and campgounds. Check us out.
