Thinking about starting your own home business?
This type of economy is actually the best time to do it. If you would like something to help you with ideas for what kind of business to start there is a new book out. It's called "The Big Idea" by Donny Doutsch and is available on Amazon. com. for under $20.

Starting a non internet home based business
I thought I would start a thread on ideas for starting a non internet home business.
1. Make a list of your interests. A good strategy when you’re starting your own home based business. You want to choose a business that you will enjoy. Is there a hobby or craft you’ve always had a passion for? Are you interested in health or sports? Career or educational interest? Enjoyment is the key. If you aren't going to enjoy it your chance of failure is a lot higher.
2. Once you have a list of your interests, research the market in your area. Do you think there is a demand in the area of your interest? Do you think there is potential or profit in this area? It’s important, besides loving your home business, to actually make money at it. Also look into related areas that there may be a nitch for your business. Something that will work in an urban environment may not work in a rural environment and the other way around.
3. Don’t settle on the first business that comes to mind, research lots of options. Read books and articles and check out all sorts of business ideas. Researching how to start your own business has never been easier with the internet at your fingertips.
4. Once you’ve done your research on your areas of interest, make a list of the types of businesses that interest you.
5. Make a list of the sorts of equipment you’ll need to start your own home business. Remember to keep records of any money you spend as these will be tax deductions for you.
6. If you are starting your own home business as retirement income and your spouse wants to be part if it, discuss all aspects of the business with him or her so you both know what to expect. You want to find a home business you’ll both enjoy and which meets both your criteria for what you want to do in retirement
I'm going to start a list of ideas for a home business and I would like you to add ideas as you think of them.
Good old standbys: House cleaning and handyman.
House cleaning. Senior living communities are usually looking for these and well as people who live very busy lives. You will need to set your own limits of what you will and will not do. Move furniture? Do windows? You could specialize in what others don't do. A must for any business where you go into the homes or businesses of others is that you are honest! Word of mouth travels fast.
Handyman. Some of the same things apply as in house cleaning. You could specialize in something that is needed in your area. Outdoor yard work. Repairing or painting. Have trailer, will haul. This can be enlarged or refined according to your talents and likes or dislikes.
Organization. This can be combined with cleaning and handyman. Are you good at organizing? A lot of people aren't. This is something you will want to do when the person is home. You will need their input. Also for your own protection. They won't be able to say you have stolen something for instance.
Organizing a garage or basement. You can just advise on how to and products needed or you can do the whole thing which could include cleaning and hauling.
In the home closets and drawers. Same thing you can do the whole thing or just advise. Same type of rules apply.
This is just a start. To be continued

Hosting Pampered Chef Parties
I am having a ball in retirement. A few months back I was introduced to the Pampered Chef Program. Since I love to cook, I have found that this is a great opportunity for me; to find hosts to bring their friends in for a party, have fun with the guests and show our products. I would never have believed that I could cook a whole chicken in the microwave in 30 minutes and have it turn out brown and juicy, but now I am a believer. Incredible great products, ease of use and easy to clean makes my preparation time so much faster. I am now doing pastries, something I always shied away from due to the difficulty and time consuming tasks they presented. NOW, I am becoming an accomplished baker, much to the delight of my wife. She now comes home to a well cooked, healthy and delicious dinner every evening.
This is the easiest and best work from home project I have ever encountered. The parties are fun and the people get to work with products before they decide whether or not to purchase.
I have found that baking brownies or some other dessert and taking it into my Doctors or dentist office have found me more business that I could have believed.

From 80 hour a week nurse to freedom..
My company downsized and at age 58 I found myself having to make a life-changing decision - to try my own business or pound the pavement again. I searched online businesses, spent a good deal of my savings on every scheme you can imagine until I found my present line of work. I absolutely love the founders of this company..and I'm so very proud of the monetary accomplishments I've made. Check out my website - not bad for a 58 year old, hm? And more successful in my own right than I ever imagined. Grammy is doing okay in this country! LOL view link
