Latest Woodburning
Hi all! I've just finished my most recent woodburn project.
Posted in the Photo gallery here are my WIP after burning,
then the finished colored product. For any who may not know,
I use 1/4 inch white birch plywood for these pieces,
9X12 inches in this instance. As I've also written B4, it
takes many hours of concentrated effort to finish a project.
This one took over 20 hours to do. I suspect burning and
coloring such beautiful gourds takes even longer......Urban

Still Around (barely)
Hi All,
I've been ill for some time, and am still feeling poorly. My artwork has suffered neglect as I combat chronic fatigue. I guess I'm a complete failure as moderator, and do sincerely apologise to Glo for not being more help in the group. I have posted a recent woodburn Prismacolored in the photo gallery. Don't count me out yet. Urban

Casey in Apple Tree
Well, I've finished and posted my colored woodburn of Casey. I used Prismacolor Pencils to achieve the final results. Quite satisfying, I think. Note how Casey's red kerchief and blouse draw your attention to her...as if a smiling girl wouldn't attract attention anyway. Urban
Self Portrait With Smile
I just posted my response to a D&P challenge for a smiling self portrait. Naturally, I had to be different and do mine as a woodburning. It took 2 hours to do on my usual 12 X 9 inch white birch plywood panel. I'm debating whether or not to add color. Urban
Winter Scenery
When it's winter in Maine, it's a special treat
for an artist. I don't much care for the cold
but the scenery...that's different. I've just
posted 2 new 9 X 12 inch color woodburns
for critique. Don't be too harsh. I was all
a-shiver with cold as I produced them. Ha!

New Woodburn Prismacolored
Just posted my Trout Brook scene. It's on a 12 X 9 inch white birch panel. Took over 20 hrs to do, and came out pretty good. Not my best, but not too bad. Urban
Group Project - Harbor View
Hi, All, It's another Prismacolor Woodburn, this one on Luan. It can't compete with Cali's beautious gourd, but it's one of several I've done recently that fit the project idea. Another would have been the LOBSTERS pier that I posted last month. Hope this one suits the group.

2 Finished Woodburns
Have posted Dockside1 and Remnants1 both now finished Prismacolored woodburns. The dockside is in Stonington, at the southern tip of Deer Isle, Maine...a lovely place for an artist to find inspiration. Remnants is in Rockport, a coastal town on Cape Ann, MA, the home of many artists who have an artist's colony there. Another insprational place for artists looking for fresh, seaside scenes, to say nothing of fresh and succulent seafood. I've haunted and hunted the seacoast just looking for some scene that catches my eye. Remnants is what's left of the old Nugent Farm, the builder being one of the earliest settlers on Cape Ann...thus my name for it. Urban
New Woodburns - WIP
I've been busily engaged in new work of late. The woodburns just posted are sample works in progress among the several I'm doing. I may submit "Dockside" as my marine scene, though I may have another work that's appropriate by January. These still need plenty of work, of course, and I'll repost them when finished. Great work on your new gourd doll, Glo! Keep busy (like I have to tell you!!!) Urban
New Woodburn - Vegi Stand
Hi all. I joined the new group at Eons Art School, and demonstrated my process step by step (7 steps) to produce my latest Prismacolored woodburn. I'm still working on three others, but will not provide my methods for the group again (unless requested). You may want to check it out if interested. It's very inclusive, showing how the picture looked at most of the steps. I find the finished piece quite satisfying, and hope you like it. Cali's latest gourds are lovely, too, and Glo's dolls are attractive. Keep up the great work you two. Urban
