Region 1

I just heard that my old SAI chorus, Merrimack Valley came in FIRST PLACE this year! I am so excited for them. It was a first place in the mid-size choruses but they also came in second in the whole contest. One of our tenors in my HI chorus also sings in the SAI chorus, Merrimack Valley. She must bit so excited. The last time MVC came in first was back in1985. I still have the blue ribbon medal. After that first, first place we never could quite hit it. It was always either second or third. Not bad, but not first.

Second Place!!

Our chorus came in Second in our Area contest! We even got a standing O! We are so psyched! We got over 900 points (you need 750 to qualify to go on to International). The judges even said we had a few A moments in our singing. Actually we came in first in singing and music. In Harmony Inc. we are judged in only three areas not 4 like Sweet Ads. They are singing, music and presentation. We were out of first place by only 9 points!!!
Yaaay!

Links

I think it would be cool if we could all (all three of us) put in links to our chorus' web site if you have one. Here's mine for Sounds of the Seacoast (Portsmouth, NH).

Good Morning

I had to post this here. There's four of them so they MUST be a quartet! Obviously the bird is the tenor!

Women Barbershoppers

I'll join! Now we are two! Maybe there are more out there that will join. I'm also a "former" Sweet Adeline. I was in a chorus in Region 1 (mostly New England) for about 20 years. When I retired to Maine from Massachusetts, in 1998, I couldn't find an SA chorus close enough, so I joined a Harmony Inc. one. We were struggling at the time I joined, even came in dead last in our Area (2), once. Then we got a new director. She not only brought us up in Area but when we went to International, we finished 7th (out of 24 choruses). For those of you who may not know, HI handles it's competitions the same way the men do. If you qualify in Area (get enough points, usually around 750), you can go to International. It's all still the same thing, though. Ringing those wonderful chords!
