Good Morning Food for Thought

October 6, 2008

Quote of the Day

"People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success."
~Norman Vincent Peale

Changing our lifestyle and getting rid of bad old habits is not for the timid. It is a major overhaul and it takes a great deal of determination and hard work. It's not a task for sissies. If you don't believe in yourself, you won't do it.

You have to be prepared to stand up to that bag of chips, that package of cookies and those co-workers with candy dishes and walk the other way. It's not always easy to do that, especially in the beginning. But I can tell you that every time you make it through the day, it becomes easier. Each day, you will become stronger.

I know that you can do it. I've seen it done and lead people down the path to success. The only difference between needing to lose 10 pounds or 100 pounds is the amount of time it takes to lose it. The rules to the game are all the same. Rule #1. You MUST believe in yourself. It doesn't matter if I do or your spouse and family and friends do. YOU have to. Once you honest to goodness believe you can, you will succeed!

When you really believe in yourself, you won't make excuses to yourself. There will be no need for that. Each day will be it's own motivation and you will face it with enthusiasm and the knowledge that you are in control. What a wonderful way to face the day!

surprising reasons for weight gain

view link

Even though you are religiously journaling every bite of food & drink you put into your mouth, count calories and portions, exercise in increments over the course of the day or spend a few longer sessions per week, you see weight gain not weight loss.

After reading this link, assess carefully your journal, be honest with you. Maybe vary your exercise routine. Do exercise and walk in increments over the course of the day, or spend 3 longer sessions per week.

Be patient. Ask questions on any of your weight loss groups if you need.

If you are on medication, that may be a problem. I take 3 meds for depression, axiety and panic. My metabolism is way down. To combat that, I have to exercise and walk a good 90 minutes to 120 min. per day to see any weight loss.
I can say honestly that I don't always do nearly 2 hrs of exercise per day. But I am faithful to exercising in increments over the course of the day.

I'm completely converted to healthy eating, having conquered a lifelong emotional eating disorder, thanks to eons.
