Vintage Mexican Silver Jewelry

I'm a big fan of vintage jewelry, and over the years I've collected a fair bit (more than I can wear!). I'm also a fan of Antiques Roadshow on PBS and love it whenever they feature someone who's brought in great pieces.

I especially like vintage Mexican silver jewelry and have had some great finds over the years. Not too long ago I started www.vintage-mexican-silver.com, where both Mexican silver jewelry and silverware are for sale, along with information and resources about vintage and antique Mexican silver. It has a fascinating history!

Sometimes I make new pieces of jewelry using vintage stuff that I've found, and that's a lot of fun for me. Not enough pieces to sell, but sometimes I give them as gifts.

Fine Art knowledge base, incl. jewelry

Recently launched is an on-line knowledgebase called Kunstpedia.com [ www.kunstpedia.com ] with articles, essays, e-Books, Podcasts and video's on the fine and decorative arts, with the exception of contemporary art.

The aim of Kunstpedia is to offer a platform for art historians, dealers, collectors, associations, institutions and museums, or their representatives, the opportunity to present their specific knowledge and know-how in the form of an article[s]. The knowledge base is an open platform. All submissions are however screened on relevance in order to avoid non relevant postings.

We would very much welcome comments or remarks which would lead to an improvement of the knowledgebase. You are furthermore invited to post your comments on any of the articles that are of interest.

Newbie

I have recently started collecting brooches, stick pins, dolls and anything that looks vintage. I just love it. I'll show pictures soon.

Finally posted the brooch pictures

I have been thinking I would get to posting my pictures but just getting to it. I have so much, these are some of my favorites and I need to improve on my pictures, but for now this will have to do.

Flea Markets Are Open

I've already bought 5 more pair of the gaudy Japan earrings that I love. Every sunny Sunday is my own personal treasure hunt, waiting to see what I can find. If I find a pair of wingback earrings in good shape I'll be in heaven.

So true!! We need Spring...

I agree that I can't wait to get out and flea market too! I like the bright colored jewelry also. But can anyone wear those "wingback" earrings? I can't figure them out! I've had them once in my store, and they sold but I could not figure out how to wear them.
Can't wait for warm weather. I want to wear sandals again...
Cold in New England.

Have a great Easter!

The gaudier the better!

I collect lots of plastic jewelry marked Japan, Hong Kong, West Germany. They're fairly inexpensive and very distinctive. I also collect vintage glass necklaces and wingback earrings. Most of my purchases have been through flea markets. I can't wait for the good weather to come so the outside flea markets open and I can keep on buying!

avid collector

Hi, I have been collecting for years also was an antique dealer. I buy old beads at estate and garage sales to recreate my own jewelry. I won't tear up a piece that is in good condition.
I have many boxes of the vintage jewelry and occasionally do a show.
I am no longer in antiques but love the jewelry. I wear the beautiful pins with sweaters and jackets. I am in the process of making some old screw back earrings into pierced.
Please let me know what you are doing and what your interests are.
