Just Joining
I thought this group might help me, my husband and another couple to decide how best to feed our love for warm-weather beaches without wanting to live year-round on a beach.
Our friends have a home in Ohio; we live in Vermont. We both want an affordable place to go when the burning need to get to the beach becomes unbearable.
Neither of us are currently in a position to purchase a home, but we'd like to have suggestions on a variety of places we could check out -- in the U.S., the Caribbean, etc.
Our son lives in Hawaii and the North Shore is our favorite beach destination but prices are prohibitive for annual or semi-annual vacations.
Thanks for the suggestions!!!

Foreclosures
While watching the Olympic this morning I read a banner ad that said that 1 in every 494 mortgages in Florida were foreclosed in July 2008.
I spoke with a real estate developer Friday night that told me there are 17 foreclosures in Watercolor, FL.
Where will all the mortgage brokers go?
Any comments?

Affordable Vacation Homes
I believe in investing in vacation homes that we can actually afford, and that means considering up keep, utilities, taxes etc. I have found that there are affordable vacation homes in Georgia that enables one to take all of the mentioned above into account! Of xcourse if youn don't mind spending the extra moolah then by all means have at it! I'm taking into consideration those of us who may be on some type of fixed incomes or about to be.
North GA Mountains of Blue Ridge
A few years ago, my husband and I started vacationing in the North GA Mountains of Blue Ridge. We loved the area so much that we bought a vacation home in the mountains.
Just over a year ago, we started renting it out as we weren't able to escape to our luxury retreat as often as we had hoped. We have had great success and have been able to share our "home away from home" with many great families and couples. Our cabin is called the Bears Den Luxury Cabin Retreat. It's a 3 bedroom, 3 bath with 3 levels and 3 fireplaces.

Northwest Florida
Hello Group:
My name is Sara. I have lived in NW Florida for over 30 years. To be more specific, I live and work in the center of a busy commercial and tourist area.
I hold two inactive real estate licenses in Florida. I am probably a good connection for someone looking for honest information about this area who has never been here. You may also communicate with me in English, Spanish and/or French as I speak, read and write fluently in all three languages and have some connections with speakers of German also.
I was drawn to this group today, because my family currently has two properties that are vacant and for rent. It might be a good deal for someone looking to relocate to this area and wanting to rent for the purpose of getting to know the area before making a real estate purcchase.
We have a 2bdrm/1bth townhouse with a waterview that is unfurnished. We also have a commuercial office building which in centrally located, but just off the one of the main roads in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The office was used as a physician's office for many, many years. It provides spacious office space for professionals who would like to live and work close to home.
Please contact me if you are interested in discussing any of these subjects with me.
I prefer to communicate with adults who are willing to self-identify.
Thank you.
Have a great day...every day!

Let's introduce ourselves!:)
4 years ago I seriously started looking for a Vacation Home. I started on Realtor...com and after 2 1/2 years of searching I found a house that interested me enough to book a flight and rent a car and go see. It didn't turn out to be the house of my dreams but I did find another home. I signed the purchase agreement, contingent upon a house inspection and it was a turn of the century farmhouse in the mountains...needless to say...lol..it had lots of issues. My friends thought I was crazy:) I had a vision of what it 'could' be and almost 2 years later w/ the help of an amazing Contractor my house is EXACTLY what I imagined it could be that 1st day I saw it. I would love to hear about your Vacation Homes and your experiences!:)
