Welcome To Uplift Yourself
The spirit of this group is to bring together a group of people who have been depressed or are currently depressed...You are among friends that are here to listen and support you and offer encouragement when needed...You may feel like you are telling the same story more than once, but that is okay...Depressed people have a tendency to do that...We don't expect anyone that comes to this group to feel they have to put on a mask or a happy face... This is the place where you are free to come as you are...If you are feeling happy or thankful we want to hear that too...It is encouraging to see that people can be depressed and still have good days or even have all good days but remember how awful the depression they once felt was...
Most of all we want this group to belong to you...to be a place to go for solace, understanding, uplifting and yes, even a smile and a laugh sometimes...We want you to feel free to share whatever is going on in your life good or bad...We want Uplift Yourself to feel as safe and as close knit as a family...A safe port in a storm...

How Is Everyone Doing?
I ask this question every once in a while to see how we are all doing.
For a lot of us Fall is bringing about changes in the weather and it's getting cooler outside. I don't mind the cool weather so much, but I do miss the sunshine. I have been keeping myself busy and started setting a routine for myself. What I mean by that is that I got away from doing chores on certain days of the week. I found that a lot wasn't getting done because it was so easy to say "oh I'll do it tomorrow". I like this new routine of mine and the house is even staying neater because I've put straitening up and getting the swifter out more often in the schedule. Oh, nothing is etched in stone but it feels good to wake up and know that I already have a plan for part of my day.
I hope I stick with this routine, it's something new for me and I think it's going to help me get through the winter without getting depressed.
Does your schedule change now that the weather has changed and how do you go about your day to day things? Do you have any suggestions on how to make it easier to get though the change of the season without getting down? Of course you might be one of the lucky ones that the seasonal changes don't affect your mood.

Thanks!
Thanks to all of you for your prayers and messages. My father is making a miraculous recovery. He is 90 years old but on the day of his stroke he had been out washing the siding and skirting of their mobile home and was on his way in to do his daily exercises when he passed out. Thank goodness he is such a healthy man because I really believe the will of God and my father's physical strength pulled him through. For two days he was on a respirator and not breathing on his own and now a week later, he will be transferred to a rehab center. He is breathing on his own, no iv's or oxygen even. Truly a mirlacle that all that seems to be affected was a slight weakness on his right side along with balance and speech.
It was a week of miracles for our family. I also spent some time with both my children and their spouses as well as two of my grandchildren. And, I finally received notification that my disability status has been approved. I have been without a job or an income for quite a while now, so I am full of gratitude right now.
Thanks again for all your support and love. You are one terrific group of people.
Love,
Mary
