new to group

Hi everyone. I'm just joining this group. I'm an actor, composer, and sound & costume designer (among other things) looking for kindred spirits to hang out with online when I'm not at rehearsal.

Community Theater

Hi all-
I'm brand new to the group. I have been actively involved in our local community theater for the past two and a half years. In addition to having lots of fun working on, being in and directing productions, I have met many wonderful people- of all ages. What a great way to stay young!

Hello

Nice idea for a group, but not much activity! I wanted to check this group out on my first day at Eons. lol...! So, since this is Eons and all, I have to say I just finished doing a show in Wash. State called "too old for the chorus"..a wonderful musical review by Mark Winkler (hi Mark, if you get this link!) Its all about getting older, and the material is treated with humor, pathos, and intellegent thought. There's a song about memory moments, one about feeling 'invisible' in todays work place (but by the end of the song, the actors have become 'invincible'!), a touching song about how one man measures his life by "dog passages", the passing of different dogs in his life. If you have a community theater looking to do a show that appeals to our generation - this one would work!

So...if any members get this message - it would be interesting to see what other styles of theater you are involved in, especially if they appeal to our "aging" subject matter!

May 10 Program for Improv Theater Master

Hi Eons Folks!

I'm David Shepherd, and I run Group Creativity in Belchertown, Mass., which is an ongoing activity group for people who love improv theater as much as I do. And I can tell you that I'm really love it because I've been out there doing improv since 1955 with lots of people who you would know, and many who are just regular folks.

On May 10 in Amherst, Mass. at the Jones Library (from 2 to 4 p.m.) you'll have a chance to meet me and learn more about the ways I've helped the world of improv theater evolve. This is a program sponsored by Valleywood II - a celebration of the digital arts in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts. All details are posted at the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce website.

Hope to see you there. Or, you can find me on Eons under the Improviser profile.

best,

David Shepherd

2 One-Acts by Albee at the Cherry Lane

Hey Everyone,

Edward Albee's coming to the historic Cherry Lane Theatre, starting this Friday, March 21st, with two one-act plays, The American Dream and the Sandbox! Go to www.cherrylanetheatre.org to buy tickets.

(And befriend the Cherry Lane Theatre on eons while you're at it!).

Here's the description:

The New Yorker hailed The American Dream as "unique … brilliant … a comic nightmare, fantasy of the highest order." The story of one of America's most dysfunctional families, it is a ferocious, uproarious attack on the substitution of artificial values for real values—a startling tale of murder and morality that rocks middle-class ethics to its complacent foundations. The American Dream was originally produced at Cherry Lane Theatre in 1961 by Richard Barr and Clinton Wilder. The Sandbox was originally produced at Cherry Lane Theatre in 1962 in a collaboration between producers Richard Barr, Clinton Wilder and playwright Edward Albee. Mr. Albee will be directing the production, schedule allowing.
