THOSE GOLDEN YEAR BLUES

I didn’t have a mortgage
‘till I borrowed on the house.
So now I’m broke and broken
and I’m feeling like a louse.
It seems I’m always tired
it could be my middle name.
My bones have started creaking
doubt I’ll ever be the same.
Memory is gettin’ worse,
cane is waitin’ in the car.
Short in stature, short in cash
I ain’t getting very far.
Prescription for this and that,
still they ain’t helpin’ me much.
I think it might be cheaper
if I turned into a lush.
Bifocals turned to readers,
since cataract surgery.
Once I could read tiny print,
just using my eyes to see.
The newer dentures ain’t great,
but the others, they wore out.
Forty three years of service,
is something to brag about.
My body’s always aching,
I can’t think, brain is so thick .
Something good’s bound to happen,
but it better happen quick.

JUST STOPPING IN TO SAY 'HI'
I'm using my grandson's computer, but have to leave town soon. I just wanted to say 'hi' to everyone. I'll be home on the sixteenth and will be glad to see you all.
I'LL BE SEEING YOU
I’ll be leaving on Friday the fifth and won’t be back until the wee hours on the fifteenth. I’m going to CO to visit relatives and will meet one of my great grandson’s who is around nine months old already. I have another great grandson in WI, born last month, I haven’t seen yet either. My ‘greats’ now total ten!!! Just four more and the ‘greats’ will tie with the ‘grands’. How blessed I am... being an only child.
