The Studio Break Room

Every working studio has some alloted time for taking a break from the work at hand. So, this is our "break room" - an open thread with no particular subject - just whatever is on your mind at the moment. Post about anything and everything (allowed by the Eon's TOU's, of course). You can wax poetic or brag on your GK's. Ask a philosophical question or discuss your favorite vacation spot. Share your interests and hobbies or comment on someone else's. Share a special video, picture or whatever. Be silly or serious - or a bit of both. Visit with your friends and make new ones
This is your "break time", so Have Fun!

Make a links file with Filamentality

I ran across this link when looking for something else. I had forgotten about it. This is a site I used when I was teaching that let the youngsters quickly make a links file for projects. We also used some of the other activities. You can make a hotlist (links file), multimedia scrapbook, treasure hunt, subject sampler and webquest here.

Filamentality was developed for use in the classroom, but anyone can use it. It will store the links file (or other project) for up to a year. You choose a user name and password when you get started to access your file as you work on it off and on. Link - www.filamentality.com/wired/fil/index. html

Making a Links File with a Template and Kompozer

If you are wanting to make an HTML file for an index for your Eon's group, as a site map for your website or for any other reason, there are different ways that it can be done.

One way is you could do it is with a template we will share and with the free HTML editor, Kompozer.

Template to Use - view link ccs.110mb.com/how/Links2.html
Instructions on how to use the template - view link ccs.110mb.com/how/Links.html
Styling the "Links" File (or another HTML page) - view link ccs.110mb.com/eons/ProjectLinks2CSS.html

The links to these files as well as links to the original posts that were made before the help file was created are in the Studio Links file (Index) under "Projects - How To's" view link

If you want to try your hand at this and need help, we'd be more than happy to give you a hand!

Have Fun!

Open DNS

Just when I thought my DSL was fixed earlier this week (after months and months), I was dropped from Eons this morning and my computer couldn't find it again. I still had DSL connection and could go to some other sites - just not Eons - and then more started becoming "lost" This has happened for other sites in the past. Don't know why my DSL provider's DNS lookup service can't find sites. Discussing it in the past with my DSL provider's help people in the past wasn't of any help.

I had seen a post about Open DNS in another group and had been considering trying it. So, I got up my nerve, found the site, read about it and signed up. I chose to just change the setting for one computer.

Bottom line:
I can get on Eons using Open DNS
The other computer still can't find Eons. (Just tried before posting this)

Have any of you tried the Open DNS? Do you know of any problems?
