“Lord, Lead Me”

Let me be an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow Love.
To be loved as to love
Where there is despair, light,
Where there is injury, pardon;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
Lord “Jesus” grant that I may not so much seek.
For it is in giving that we receive.

Lead Me On

Precious Lord, take my hand,
Lead me on, help me stand,
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn,
Through the rain, through the night,
Lead me on to the light,
Precious Lord, take my hand, and lead me on.

Sometimes the old songs just hit the spot. Keep on rolling through our hearts and minds. Good point of prayer too. Occasionally I need to be reminded to take His hand and be led. God bless and keep, Sharrie

The Heart and Mouth Connection

Photobucket

Establishing your heart in the Word of God is essential if you want to see the physical manifestation of God's promises. Because Scripture is infallible, whatever God says must come to pass. The way a believer begins to establish his or her faith is to hear the Word of God preached (Romans 10:17) in addition to reading, studying, meditating on the Word and speaking it. If you make this your lifestyle, you will be walking by faith and experience the promises of God come to pass in your life.

Your heart is your epicenter of faith in God's Word. Many people mistakenly make confessions when their heart is not grounded on the Word of God. In actuality, they are only mentally agreeing with the words they speak but they don't really believe the words they are saying. They are hoping that what they say will come to pass. Consequently, they get frustrated when they don't see the manifestation of what they are speaking.

Romans 10:10 says, "For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." You must believe in the integrity of the Word before you speak it. Otherwise, your confessions are in vain. Second Corinthians 4:13 says, "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak." Joshua 1:8 stresses the importance of meditating on the Word day and night. In doing so, we make our way prosperous.

Jesus is our ultimate example of operating the principle of faith. He knew that whatever He spoke would come to pass. (Psalm 119:97-104) The same results can be ours if we don't doubt in our heart (Matthew 21:21). Jesus said that whosoever shall say, or speak, to something in faith will see it changed.

Walking by faith, or walking by the Word of God, must become a settled issue in your life before you can experience God's abundance. For you to experience divine health and healing, financial prosperity, deliverance and the numerous other benefits of God's covenant, it will depend on whether you choose to accept the world's opinions and reports over the integrity of God's Word. If you put the principles of the Word to work while pursuing a life of love and holiness, you can prove God for yourself. Give His Word a chance and watch Him come through for you in a mighty way.

Watch What You Say and How You Speak

Photobucket

You can try to disguise your identity by changing your looks, your social circle and your address - but how you speak will give you away every time.

It happened to Peter. When a servant girl saw him warming himself by the fire, she said, "'You...were with Jesus of Nazareth.' But he denied it...And the...girl saw him again and began to say to those who stood by, 'This is one of them.' But he denied it again. Later, those who stood by said to Peter again...'you are one of them...your speech shows it'" (Mark 14:67-70). So in order to convince his accusers that he wasn't a friend of Jesus, Peter "began to curse and swear, 'I do not know this Man of whom you speak'" (Mark 14:71).

It worked! After that nobody else accused him of knowing Jesus. It's interesting how public profanity in any language has a way of making others question the quality of your relationship with Christ.

Paul says, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up...that it may benefit those who listen" (Ephesians 4:29). If you want to win people to Jesus, start with how you talk. Paul said, "Let your speech always be with grace...that you may know how you ought to answer each one" (Col 4:6). Words are powerful things. They either build up or tear down, add to or take away.

It's not important that people can tell from your accent where you're from, but when they cannot tell by the way you talk that you're a disciple of Christ, something is seriously wrong.

So what's it all about

I was preparing my sermon for Sunday and read in a commentary about a travelling evangelist who told his audience at a rally, "Don't tell people about the cross, it doesn't work. Just tell them that Jesus loves them and has a plan for them. This is the only way you will fill your pews."
Well I don't want pew fodder in my church, I want people who have a living and vital relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ; or come seeking such a relationship.

I love Jesus, He is my Lord and Saviour, and in our church, I echo the words of Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:23."I preach Christ crucified." 'A stumbling block and foolishness to many but to those whom God has called it is the power of God and the wisdom of God.'"

Confidence in Prayer

pray prayer

Are you tired of praying and not getting results in your prayer life? If so, you probably need to examine your confidence level in this area. A lack of confidence in prayer simply comes from not knowing God's Word. Too many Christians pray emotional, fear-based prayers, hoping that they get through to God. However, He does not respond to emotionalism; He responds to His Word. To pray apart from the Word of God will not get results. But when you have confidence in the Word and say to God what He has already spoken, your life will change forever.

It is critical for you to first find out what God has said in the Bible about your situation in order to effectively pray about it. For example, if you need healing, instead of begging God to heal you, begin to confess 1 Peter 2:24 which declares that you have already been healed by the stripes of Jesus. If it is financial prosperity that you need to become a reality in your life, find scriptures on wealth and declare them in faith. Your first step in prayer is to discover the promises of God in the Bible. Then you can release your faith by saying them in your prayer time.

Jesus walked in the most powerful ministry ever known to man because He practiced the presence of God and had a strong prayer life. Scripture says He often took time away from other people to pray and spend time with the Father (Mark 1:35; Luke 6:12; Luke 9:18). One of the keys to effective prayer is to have total confidence in our Father in heaven as we spend time with Him in prayer.

Our prayer life must be activated by faith, which is a practical expression of our confidence in God and in His Word. And our confidence comes by spending time in meditating on the scriptures. Simply repeating the scriptures is not enough. The key to success in our prayer life is meditation.

To meditate on the Word is to ponder or consider it in your mind until you have gotten revelation out of it. When you discover the deeper meaning behind a scripture, and God speaks to you personally about it, you have the ammunition you need to take that scripture with you in your prayer time and boldly release your faith when you confess it.

As believers, we are to follow the example of our Lord. His life is evidence of what happens when a person is continually connected to God's presence and lives a life of meditation. When you do, your confidence will be bolstered and you will begin to experience supernatural results every time you pray.

The Lord is my Light...

I am amazed at how much God loves us.. as I drive by some of the homes here in La. .. most are still boarded up..those that are still standing. These two past hurricane's have let us know that we are still in "shock" from Katrina and Rita. Then..in prayer yesterday.. I asked God.. how are we going to get through all of this..again? He reminded me of other Country's that have been "destroyed" for so many years.. their people sitting on the street .. no home.. no food .. nothing.. & we sit here and get upset.. it cause me to say outloud.. "I AM Blessed.. Praise the Lord.."
