ANNOUNCEMENT STICKY

Photobucket

PHENOMENAL WOMEN has been created for all Women as a group where we can be strong, vital, and opinionated, and where we can celebrate our diversity of race, ages, spiritual beliefs, and thoughts.

It is a place where our sexuality is as important as our intellect, and where everyone's opinions are valued, and our varied tastes are shared.

POSTING GUIDELINES: Please post ALL VIDEOS in First Reply, or your post will be deleted and you will be asked to repost it in First Reply.

Please for any LOOOONG posts or articles, put a teaser or the first paragraph in your main post and the rest in First Reply, or it will be deleted.

Please, discuss partisan politics in other groups. Political discussions tend to become uncivil and lead to hurt feelings, something we do not want in Phenomenal Women.

Our bywords in this groups are variety, diversity, kindness, caring, support, civility, and love. But I don't need to tell you that, do I.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Domestic violence, defined as the use or threat of use of physical, emotional, verbal, or sexual abuse with the intent of instilling fear, intimidating, and controlling behavior, is a prominent public health issue in the United States. It is the most frequent cause of serious injury to women, more than car accidents, muggings, and stranger rapes combined1. Because the majority of victims never report these crimes, it is very difficult to estimate how many individuals are affected. It is estimated that only 20% of all rapes and 25% of all assaults of women in the context of and intimate relationship are reported

Just A Thought

I have these from time to time!
When I was younger I had this list, what I wanted to be, the "perfect" man for me, my role in the universe and what God had planned for me. As I got older my list changed, the career, the list of attrubutes for the man changed, and I now know that God has a very strange sense of humor. Now in my 40's my list changed again and it is starting to look like my list of old. This time I am not taking any wooden nickles!!! And I pay more attention to God and His strange sense of humor!
How about your list or did you have one?

Elephant #4

Working mothers. OR mothers who work outside the home, because we all know we work whether it is for the home, or the outside world. So what is your take on women who work outside the home, what's your take on women who prefer to be stay at home mom's? Then there is the sub catagory that is often forgetton about and that is the woman who chooses not to have children but is the stay at home wife. Do we as a society discount women who stay at home? Are you a stay at home wife (or were you), were you a stay at home mother and vice versa. Why?

Women Can Be Violence Creatures Too

I hear a lot about men and violence against women. And rightfully so. There is so much violence against women and children that has been done by the hands of men!
But how about women being violent? I see a lot of that too.
There is a double standard when it comes to violence. A woman can hit, yell, curse and withhold from men and their children and it is looked at as more of a "woman being hormonal thing". Why isn't it looked at like it is....a type of violence.
We as women need to be reminded it's ok to have anger but...it's not ok to shove it in the faces of others.
If a man were to do some of the things I've seen women do, it would be called abusive.
Are we woman abusive too?
I would have to say for myself as a younger woman, yes, I was.
I've had to learn to control my emotions and I had to learn how to disclose my anger appropriately.
How about you?
