Texas and Texas Friends
I have said that Texas is a state of mind, but I think it is more than that. It is a mystique closely approximating a religion. And this is true to the extent that people either passionately love Texas or passionately hate it and, as in other religions, few people dare to inspect it for fear of losing their bearings in mystery or paradox. But I think there will be little quarrel with my feeling that Texas is one thing. For all its enormous range of space, climate, and physical appearance, and for all the internal squabbles, contentions, and strivings, Texas has a tight cohesiveness perhaps stronger than any other section of America. Rich, poor, Panhandle, Gulf, city, country, Texas is the obsession, the proper study and the passionate possession of all Texans. -John Steinbeck, 1962

Sticky Nightmares
Eons is having nightmares with the sticky posts. (These are the posts you see above, "stuck" at the top of the group's homepage.) As I was rearranging things to put the Texas slide show at the top, I had to "unstick" the chat box, at which point it went into sticky pergatory where it remained for a day and a half. I finally located the fiesty little devil this morning, but could not reinstate its stickiness so it would come back up to the top of the page! Other managers I have talked to have said their sticky posts have been mysteriously disapearing without provocation, so at least I don't feel like I'm losing my mind! So until Eons gets this problem straightened out, please use the above sticky post to CHAT. It has a link that will take you directly to the wayward chat box. (Now that I think of it, I'll stick this post too for awhile, so that it doesn't fly away.) Don't you just love change?
Yours stickily,
Julie

Birthday/Anniversary wishes
Today is the first Sunday in October. As is the tradition in my church, and is my tradition here, I would like to wish those who have birthdays this month a Happy Birthday. This is for you:
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
May God bless you and keep you,
Happy Birthday to you.
And for those couples with Anniversaries this month also:
Happy Anniversary to you,
Happy Anniversary to you,
May God bless you and keep you,
Happy Anniversary to you.
As I have said before, I will say again, that is the closest you will ever come to hearing me sing. And that is to your benefit.
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
May God bless you and keep you,
Happy Birthday to you.
And for those couples with Anniversaries this month also:
Happy Anniversary to you,
Happy Anniversary to you,
May God bless you and keep you,
Happy Anniversary to you.
As I have said before, I will say again, that is the closest you will ever come to hearing me sing. And that is to your benefit.
News of Ajijicchic
Our wonderful manager had surgery today for her hip. I have spoken with her this evening, and she sounds great and says she is doing very well. She wanted me to let you all know.
Some advise
"I would like to warn women about the danger of giving their car keys with their house keys attached to anyone.
A good friend's daughter went to a well-known tire (tyre) company to have a flat repaired while she waited. Without thinking she handed her key ring with all her house keys on to the serviceman and waited. What she didn't know is that most of these places also have key cutting machines. One of the servicemen copied her apartment key and two days later entered her apartment late at night and raped her.
This was a business she frequented and they had all her personal information on their computer.
The man was caught months later and the police found out that he had done this before.

Has anyone heard
Anything about Moody Gardens? I went there a few summers ago. A beautiful place.
Was wondering if they evacuated any of the wildlife there, or if it to was totally destroyed.
Humans have a choice, but the wildlife did not.

Asking a favor
Hi Texas friends, I have been off site for a while, months actually. This is the group I missed the most.
Anyway, I will be shopping in Dallas soon and wanted to ask for recommendations for some good discount shopping for clothes.
Thanks
