Now I hope I am in the right group for my question. I bought a new computer last week with Vista windows and I also purchased a new game for Vista windows and guess what it does work well together. Here is the problem, the software for the game ran smoothly and finsihed but when I went to play it this is the message I got. "Hardware failed to switch to the specifiede mode". What does this mean and how can I fix it. Please reply as soon as possible I would love to play my new game with my new computer.

If anyone could help me to increase my virtual memory, I would appreciate it. My PC starts running very slow and the graphics sometimes locks up my computer.

Hi, I joined this group and there doesn't seem to be much action here, why? there's so much going on everywhere. I watched a late night ad on tv about new web phone service and bought it. It works great. Now I don't sell it or make any $ from it. One has to get it direct from the company. It's call MagicJack. This works great and no more phone bills, just plug your phone into it. You need to keep your computer on and have hi speed internet service for it to work. You can set up a number from any state. You call anywhere in the usa and canada. Check it out, it works. It's 19.95 for the device and 19.00 one time per year. That's it per year 19.00. Just thought you would want to know. How about you, any new things out there.

I have a Dell xp (home version) from hell. My first question is......I have some pictures on a cd from walgreens. My cd drive is working. ( I can play music ) I put the walgreens cd in the drive and downloaded it to my pictures. Since the cd was dated and not named, I couldn't find the pictures. I inserted the walgreens cd again and it would not work. Is there a run command that I can use to start the cd drive, or is there a setting on my computer that I can change? I finally found the pictures but this info would benefit me in the future.
2nd question........
I downloaded Mozilla Firefox. I like it but am still getting used to it. ( I am a creature of habit ). My daughter sent me an e-mail with an attachment of pictures of my grands. Using Firefox, how do I save the pictures to my computer? I could easily save e-mailed pictures with Internet Explorer. I can't figure out how to save e-mailed pictures to my computer using Firefox. I tried help but maybe I didn't word it correctly. I am a novice here, usually learn by trial and error.
Please give me detailed instructions. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

i really hope some one can help me. my computer is messing up bad and it sometimes doesnt make since. it's doing a number of things and it's not doing a number of things. ok first of all i've had to restore it, hoping it would cure the problem but it has'nt.
i have a microsoft windows xp media center edition 2005, i've had it for 1 year.
internet explorer doesnt want to come up and sometimes doesnt.
emails will open (sometimes)
if theres a link that i have to click on to read the message it wont open
i cant download any games
i cant play any games on line
i cant bring up internet explorer to put any pictures or whatever on any of my profiles
i have avg free edition anti virus which i've scanned a couple of times and nothing bad has come up
i just dont know what to do i get so stressed out i want to throw it out the window!
so i hoping someone can help me
i've even restarted my pc a number of times and even turning it off but it still does the same things.

i purchased a new Ho computer with the new VISTA (yuc) and have e mailed microsoft, clled HP, called Best Buy who I bought it from to get help only to hear it is some one elses problem and call them.
Best Buy offered to send out Geek squad at a price. I cannot load a brand new Lexmark printer to my computer due to driver issues and Lexmark told me it is a VISTA issue.

All the answers I have heare are buy a Xp program to download and get get rid of Vista. This is from several techs locally here in MO.

I am on a fixed income and saved for a year to but a nice computer and now all I can do is e mail. Not a high dollar computer but to pay $700.00 (tower only) lose it for a paperweight from HP is rediculous and sad.

I feel that Best Buy, Microsoft, Lexmark, and HP are companies that should help the little guy who put their trust in them.

Please help before I start really start bad mothing these comapies every where. I cannot get out and take it a bunch of places due to surgeries.

I was wondering if anyone would know of a solid way of learning programming. I am interested in learning this and maybe, with luck, get a entry position in a company that handles such things. But first, does anyone know what to take at 55 to change a carreer?

I have picked up some manuals on Python, C, C++, and some Ruby. I know it is a long shot, but with my disabilities I couldn't think of something else so far. Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated.
