Drag up a cheer..................

And set a spell..............

For Southerners, that is not an uncommon saying, unless you are maybe in So Cal.....

It means: You are welcome here, come talk with us, learn about us and let us learn about you.....

Maybe our language is peculiar to some, that is OK.....

We are home folks.....you come in here, expect to be considered family.....

That also means: No personal attacks ever at all.....disagree, OK.....but be nice about it.....

If you can handle being part of the family, come on in......

'Possum Roadkill Memorial Mailbox Post

Seeing as how 'possums don't get no respect, I got the local chainsaw sculptor to help me with a suitable salute to their participation in the Southern lifestyle. See first reply.

Biscuits...........

EVERY Southern woman takes pride in her biscuits.....we are not talking the Hardees variety stuff here.....though to say the truth, Hardeeds has WAYY-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y better biscuits than Carl's Jr, part of the same chain (and the source of the cute star).....but when CJ's bought Hardees in the 1990s, they exported the $6 burger to Hardees, but did NOT import the biscuits from Hardees.....so tell us.....horror stories or great stories.....

Liberal

is that a dirty word in your neck of the woods...Is here...Back in the 50s it meant you were open to change and advancement...Not now....Better cuss a man mother than call him a liberal here....

OK folks.....FOOTBALL is starting to get serious..

OK.....I have heard that GA has broken out the BLACK uniforms.....they have done that only TWICE to my knowledge and both times has resulted in GA doing a SMACK DOWN of the opponent.....one of which was Auburn (what a surprise.....).....

Time for Saban to bring out the white helmets.....everyone since the Bear who has tried that has had it backfire.....but with Saban will succeed.....

Alabama at Georgia is now deadly serious.....I respect all those who love football.....but those of you who are SEC fanatics (and DAWG fans) understand that now (since the uniforms), it is not just football.....you are a DAWG under an ELEPHANT's foot.....

No offense.....

Oh, and let us be clear.....there should be NO violence or hate off the field.....after all, we all love SEC football.....

Oh, BTW, for those who have wondered what to discuss.....it's fall.....time for SEC FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, yeah, also BBQ and beer.....

BRING IT! Talk about your favorite team(s).....

Just remember.....at the end, we all love SEC football.....and respect some of the other conferences.....

12 Step Recovery Program For Eon Addicts

12 Step Recovery Program For Eon Addicts
1. I will have a cup of coffee in the morning and read my PAPER newspaper like I used to, before Eons.
2. I will eat breakfast with a knife and fork and not with one hand typing.
3. I will get dressed before noon.
4. I will make an attempt to clean the house, wash clothes, and plan dinner before even thinking of Eons.
5. I will sit down and write a letter to those unfortunate few friends and family that are Eon-deprived.
6. I will call someone on the phone who I cannot contact via Eons.
7. I will read a book... if I still remember how.
8. I will listen to those around me about their needs and stop telling them to turn the TV down so I can hear the music in my group on Eons.
9. I will not be tempted during TV commercials to check for email.
10. I will try and get out of the house at least once a week, if it is necessary or not.
11. I will remember that my bank is not forgiving if I forget to balance my checkbook because I was too busy on Eons.
12. Last, but not least, I will remember that I must go to bed sometime... and thaat Eons will always be there tomorrow!

kid songs

This came to mind recently, I'm not sure if was a general silly kid song or only sang in the south. Anyone who'd like to, feel free to add some songs from their childhood.

Stock Tips

Stock Tips
I just received this from my broker. I normally don't pass stock tips on,
but I thought this exception would be OK. If you hold any of the following
stocks, you may want to review:

American Can Co.

Interstate Water Co.

National Gas Co.

Northern Tissue Co.

Due to the uncertain market conditions at this present time, we advise you
to sit tight on your American Can, hold your Water and let go of your Gas.
You may be interested to know that Northern Tissue touched a new bottom
today, and millions were wiped clean.

Don't take this seriously folks, it is just a joke.....

Sept 25 - Happy Birthday William Faulkner

For every Southern boy fourteen years old, not once but whenever he wants it, there is the instant when it's still not yet two o'clock on that July afternoon in 1863, the brigades are in position behind the rail fence, the guns are laid and ready in the woods and the furled flags are already loosened to break out and Pickett himself with his long oiled ringlets and his hat in one hand probably and his sword in the other looking up the hill waiting for Longstreet to give the word and it's all in the balance, it hasn't happened yet, it hasn't even begun yet, it not only hasn't begun yet but there is still time for it not to begin against that position and those circumstances which made more men than Garnett and Kemper and Armistead and Wilcox look grave yet it's going to begin, we all know that, we have come too far with too much at stake and that moment doesn't need even a fourteen-year-old boy to think This time. Maybe this time with all this much to lose than all this much to gain: Pennsylvania, Maryland, the world, the golden dome of Washington itself to crown with desperate and unbelievable victory the desperate gamble, the cast made two years ago.
