I know many of you, at times, have had to deal with unpleasant or unsavory issues with a brother or sister. I've come from a very big and loving family. Out of 7 children there are 5 of us left (sisters) and I love them very much. Ever since mom died 6 years ago, it seems like we've drifted apart and its been bothering me so much. I've tried to keep the family together but its become apparent that I'm the only one trying. I have nieces and nephews who are back stabbing each other and not teaching their children the value of family unity. Earlier this year, my dad got ill and had to move in with my oldest sister but he still has his apartment. He has a home aide 3 times a week but I've been having serious issues with with how my sister and her husband are so unattentive to his needs. Unfortunately, she's the only one with an apartment big enough to accommodate him plus she doesn't work and is home all day. She's always been somewhat harsh and not as warm and emotionally connected as all the rest of us. I've always been the most vocal and confrontational of all the sisters and I've had to put distance between us in order to keep the peace. Just this past week, my baby sister who is the least outspoken had a dispute with her over my dad's apartment and now they are not speaking. I've never seen my baby sister so angry. My other 2 sisters are also bothered by this but are too ill to want to be bothered anymore. One of them is being prepped for a liver transplant and I don't want her to let this affect her. The other one has MS and the last thing she needs is more stress in her life. This is tearing me apart inside cause I know my mom must be turning in her grave to see us like this. She made me promise her that I will keep "her" family "unida". I've spoken to my oldest sister about her attitude and how she treats us and her response is "That's the way I am and I'm not going to change". I like to be treated as I treat others and I told her that I don't appreciate it and will not tolerate it.

So how do I deal with all of this especially since I have no choice but to go to her house to see my dad. She lives in the next building to me and I feel like she's a thousand miles away. Do I throw my hands up and let it be or do I try to keep the family united even if I think it will be a feudal point?

Today we will be celebrating Thanksgiving as a family. I am cooking a 22lb. turkey with all of the trimmings for my family and expecting around 35 people. I just found out that my baby sister cancelled and will not be participating cause she is too angry. I cried when I learned this and heard in her voice how angry and hurt she is. I told her that I want her to speak to her oldest sister and work this out somehow when she get's past her anger. I told my oldest sister the same thing. If my father were to learn that this is going on, it will probably kill him instantly.

Would love to hear your advice on this.

I get sick and tired of hearing that only women under size 7 are beautiful. I say to each its own and if you are over 50 and still maintain a small size and are fit...God Bless You and keep up the good work. I for one see many beautiful HAPPY women who are 14+ and very sexy and sensual. I hate and resent when society labels us "Cows" because we don't wear a size 0-7 or we are not buffed and firm. Let's hear it for the proud "Thick Woman" out there!!!! Yes I am THICK hear me roar!!! LOL.
