I have a 16 yr. old son with high cholesterol (220 first test, 166 second test). We recently meet with lipid specialist to discuss diet and exercise. His good cholesterol is too low and the bad is too high. He has not made any changes to his eating habits and everytime I try to discuss it with him his response is "I know." Any suggestions on how to get through to him about the seriousness. The specialist told us him he has the makings of plaque build up in the arteries if he doesn't change things now. They also say he has early signs of diabetes.
