I bought an old cobblestone Craftsman-style bungalow in a small resort community in Oklahoma in 2004, shortly after the death of my partner.
[oklahoma>resort???]
(NO LAUGHING, Oklahoma has had this particular resort community since 1916!)
I quickly had it declared a historical property, to protect it from future "improvements".
An architect friend and I had fun redesigning the interior. I managed full living space, washer included along with a private bedroom in the 425 square feet of the original cabin.
The original sleeping porch had been converted in the 1950s into a bedroom and bathroom. I tore them out, and will be restoring the extra 200 square feet to a seasonal-use area, closed only during the hottest summer days and coldest winter ones.
I did size the heat pump venalation system so that it would handle the full 625 if I wanted, but I'm a frugal tree-hugger so I won't be doing that very often.
My kitchen is designed around an under-counter freezer and an under-counter refrigerator, along with a two-burner propane cooktop and a toaster oven.
I'm looking forward to finishing reading all your ideas here. Looks like I can steal a lot of concepts!
