Cafe Steamers
At the risk of sounding like a commercial, I'd like to share these yummy meals with the group. I made a couple last night for me and hubby. The grilled Basil Chicken was excellent! Most have some sort of pasta - my downfall. I can't trust myself to measure the right amount so here they are apportioned perfectly.
The ingredients, sans the sauce, steams in an upper basket over the sauce. When done, you mix it all together. I bought a 4 pack at BJ's and they were not expensive. The calories counts are between mid 200's and 300's with the most being for General Tso's Spicy Chicken which was just over 400. The one I had was 290 with 20g protein, 37 g carbs, 6g total fat, and 580 mg of sodium. I tell you it was absolutely delicious! I served it with extra sauteed garlic broccoli and I was fully sated. view link

Need to step down
I'm very sorry to say I need to step down being a moderator for this group. I've seemed to take on more then I can handle and have caused my husband to be a computer widower. He is by himself all the time while I take care of my groups. I'm also neglecting my dogs who did not get walked today. So I'm going to be stepping down and dropping out of a few groups to give myself some more time with my family. I'll check in with you all from time to time. I just need a short break and then see what I can do from there.
Thanks for understanding. Please remove me when you have the time.

Spice Wafers & Digestion
Every so often I experience an uneasy morning stomach... I mean, a just not right feeling in my tummy, a slight distress.
I've found that eating a few spiced wafers ,the store bought kind containing ginger, also known as ginger snaps really help settle my stomach. I've been doing this the last few days and it really helps.
Just thought I'd pass this along. I also have ginger capsules from the health food store, which I have also had success with.

I have a Sunbeam PIE MAKER
Yesterday, while looking through some kitchen cabinets, I found a nearly forgotten Sunbeam, model 4805 Pie Maker. It is a self contained oven contraption claiming to bake two mini pies in 10 minutes or less!
I do remember my wife receiving it as a gift, probably back in the 1980s or 90s? Never used it, brand new in the original box...problem is the instructions and recipe book are missing. Other than the pictures of suggested uses on the box, I have no clue how to use it. It just says use ready made pastry dough and your favorite fillings; meat, vegetable or fruit, even for a quiche or pizza?
Anyway, if anyone reading this has or has had one of these ovens, I would appreciate any help here...instructions, recipes, etc. Thanks.

NEW FOOD GAME....
Here's an idea for a new food game, one everyone can play and hopefully more will get involved and post answers!
Starting with the letter A and continuing through the alphabet...name a food item and tell us how you prepare it. In the event you name an herb, spice or a component item, tell us in what dishes you use it. If you cannot think of any, don't pass...go on to the next letter!
Okay, I'll begin with "AVACADO"...I like the Haas variety, sliced in a salad or in making guacamole.
Your turn, give us a "B".

A find, if your digestive system agrees

Still Time To Grill
Fresh home from a tropical vacation, I am left with memories of luscious ripe tropical fruits and shrimp. There were fantastic Shrimp trucks on the North Shore of Oahu, HI that served up locally grown prawns sauteed whole in their shells with garlic or a myriad of other sauces. The sauteed garlic chips flavored the scoop of white rice and it was cooked up fresh for us to eat on adjacent picnic tables (with a sink nearby to clean up).
Here are some recipes that are reminiscent of that great memory. view link
