Now our Lord, when on earth, encouraged, indeed He even challenged His audiences to "Search the Scriptures" for themselves (John 5:39). Indeed since God revealed Himself and His plan of salvation in the written Word, we are responsible, each one for himself to study the Scriptures. When the rich man Dives begged Abraham to be allowed to go and warn his five brothers about the horrors of hell, Abraham replied, "They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them". And when the rich man urged that a word from him would be more effective, Abraham answered, "If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead" (Luke 16:29,31).
Don't depend upon your clergyman, my dear friend, to interpret the Scriptures for you. See for yourself what God says in His Word. For "every one of us shall give an account of himself to God", says Romans 14:12. And it won't be enough in that day to say, my minister or my priest told me so and so. You are responsible, you, to search the Scriptures for yourself, to see whether these things are so.
Why don't you search the Scriptures, especially the epistles of Paul, our apostle. For it is Paul who says, "For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the Apostle of the Gentiles [Nations], I magnify mine office" (Rom.11:13). Learn in his epistles this mystery among the Gentiles which is Christ in you the hope of glory and how it is that Christ's death on Calvary's cross can save you.
"In Whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace" (Eph.1:7).

Does anyone know the answer to this?
I have a friend who is being troubled by an ex husbands new girlfriend, it just never stops.
I was trying to use scriptures to help her understand how evil works, that it is because of a sinful nature. Anyway this one thing kept going through my head and I can't find it anywhere in my Strong's so I may have it wrong. But isn't there something that says there are some people who can't even sleep because they lay awake at night trying to think of mean things to do?
Something to that nature anyway.

A STONE OF STUMBLING

Some thirty years after the death and resurrection of Christ, St. Peter wrote to the believers of the Jewish dispersion:
"Unto you therefore which believe He is precious; but unto them which be disobedient, the Stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
"And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient..." (I Pet. 2:7,8).
It is true that Israel's builders, 1900 years ago, "disallowed" Christ as the cornerstone for their building, and that when He became the "Head of the corner," according to Psa. 118:22, it was for them an occasion for stumbling and embarrassment.
But Christ is a "stone of stumbling" to all who reject Him. In Rom. 9:33 St. Paul quotes from several Old Testament passages:
"As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence; and whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed."
In Peter's day and in Paul's, those who looked upon Christ as their Cornerstone were never given cause to be ashamed. It was those who disallowed and refused Him who kept stumbling over Him and were constantly embarrassed by Him.
So today, those who put their trust in the crucified, risen Christ are eternally secure and will never be put to shame for having done so. But those who reject Christ keep forever stumbling over Him. They hear Him preached over the radio, they see Him offered as the One who died for their sins, they are constantly confronted with His claims and they are embarrassed. They keep forever stumbling over Him.
Moral: trust Him now as your personal Savior, for "who- soever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed."

I would like to ask for your prayers. My friend & fellow Eons member, Rimpysgirl, Is sadly waiting at her Mom's bedside waiting for her passing. Her Mom had a very bad stroke and will not be recovering. She is back at home surrounded by her family. Please pray for her family.

Prayers For Anne
Need prayers for a friend who is on dialysis at the same clinic I go to...Anne was to have a chemical stress test yesterday, but all did not go well - bp and pulse were too high, so she saw a cardiologist and will have a pacemaker placed in her heart this next Tuesday - my mom and I plan to be there for her - need prayers that all goes well and she is calm - she is pretty scared right now...thanks.
